The POS terminal has a card reader and a reader controller. The card reader reads provided cards when fully powered and enabled. The reader controller is coupled to the card reader, and determines one or more workflow states of the POS terminal, and dynamically controls power states of the card reader according to the one or more workflow states.

    Abstract: A document scanner includes an enclosure with a scanning area. A transparent platform in the scanning area allows a user to position a document for authentication. A top camera takes a picture of the top of the document and a bottom camera takes a picture of the bottom under multiple light conditions including UV, IR, and white light. Mirrors reduce the enclosure size and multiple computers within the enclosure share work to process image data and determine document type. Types are searched in order based historically detected types. Barcode data is decoded and image samples are filtered as one of the computers finds a match. Security features are checked for the detected type and fake variants of the detected type are checked. Card information and formatting is validated and face data captured from a face camera and as shown on the document are matched against a database of banned users.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a code number generator that generates, when an operation reception unit receives user's designation of a number of tickets to be issued, a code key, and an encryption method, an encrypted code number for each of the designated number of tickets, with respect to each ticket number sequentially allocated to the designated number of tickets, using the designated code key and encryption method, a distinction image generator that generates, for each tickets, a distinction image containing the code number generated for each of the ticket, and a controller that adds, in each of the designated number of tickets, the distinction image of each of the tickets generated by the distinction image generator, to image data of an original of the ticket read by a document reading unit, and causes a printing unit to print each of the designated number of tickets.

While these techniques work well together and produce the most benefit when used together, they are independent techniques and any one may be used alone without the others. Thus a system might use the estimated total number of transponders technique and the timeslot shortening technique, but use a standard random number generator rather one based on transponder location with only a small decrease in overall performance.

Digital signal processing is used to generate pedigree information, which may include items such as shipping location, serial numbers and lot numbers for the goods. The status of the autonomous anti-tampering system is monitored real-time for unauthorized intrusions. Intrusions detected are relayed to an authorized recipient via a variety of communication channels.

In one aspect, the containers are in the form of patient drawers which fit within a cart for delivery to hospital rooms.
