  • Patent number: 10748558
Abstract: The presently disclosed technology teaches integrating disc drive electronics into a transducer head. Decreased electrical transit times and data processing times can be achieved by placing the electronics on or within the transducer head because electrical connections may be made physically shorter than in conventional systems. The electronics may include one or more of a control system circuit, a write driver, and/or a data buffer. The control system circuit generates a modified clock signal that has a fixed relation to phase and frequency of a bit-detected reference signal that corresponds to positions of patterned bits on the disc. The write driver writes outgoing data bits received from an external connection to off-head electronics directly to the writer synchronized with the modified clock signal. The data buffer stores and converts digital data bits sent from the off-head electronics to an analog signal that is synchronized with the modified clock signal.

  • Patent number: 10204242
Abstract: Provided is a card insertion and ejection mechanism to be mounted forward of a card reader structured to convey a card so that a longitudinal direction of the card is coincided with a conveying direction of the card, the card insertion and ejection mechanism being capable of preventing skimming and capable of sending into the card reader the card in an orientation capable of being processed by the card reader even when the card is inserted into the card insertion and ejection mechanism in any orientation. A card insertion and ejection mechanism takes in a card to a turning position when the card is inserted into a card insertion port with front and rear sides of the card directed correctly so that a short widthwise direction of the card is coincided with an “X” direction, and controls a card turning and conveying mechanism in a turning direction and at a turning angle based on a result of determination as to an orientation of the inserted card, to turn the card.

  • Patent number: 10192079
Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for reading magnetic information by a mobile device are presented. In example embodiments, the mobile device comprises a housing having an integrated surface for swiping a magnetic swipe card and a magnetometer positioned within the housing to produce digital magnetometer output signals. The digital magnetometer output signals represent magnetic information derived from the magnetic swipe card and from the Earth's magnetic fields (or other sources). In some aspects, the digital magnetometer output signals may be filtered to determine which of the signals are derived from the Earth's magnetic fields and which may be derived from other sources. In some aspects, the filtering is based on a range, with those signals falling within a particular range being determined to be derived from the Earth's magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 10181986
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for monitoring action records in virtual space. The systems and methods for monitoring action records in virtual space display recorded activity on an avatar within the virtual space by communicating in a virtual space with a user account. The recorded activity is analyzed and processed in order to compile information on the avatar and display an avatar (which is a reflection of the compiled information).

  • Patent number: 10169693
Abstract: Programming fixtures are provided that program devices, such as payment cards, with data, such as personal data, using light transmitters and receivers for powered cards, or using magnetic write heads for non-powered cards. A processor within the powered card computes a magnetic stripe message and associated longitudinal redundancy check (LRC) value based upon the personal data. The processor compares the LRC value against a list of LRC exceptions and changes the magnetic stripe message to change the LRC value based upon a positive comparison. A programming fixture may compute the magnetic stripe message and may change the magnetic stripe message before writing the magnetic stripe message to a static magnetic stripe upon a detection that the associated LRC value matches an LRC exception.

  • Patent number: 10162987
Abstract: A card reader may include card insertion port; a plurality of types of pulling-out detection mechanisms; and a pulling-out prevention mechanism. The pulling-out prevention mechanism may include a lock member having a prevention part configured to contact with the card and prevent pulling-out of the card; and a moving mechanism structured to move the lock member between a contact position and a retreated position. The plurality of types of the pulling-out detection mechanisms may the abnormal pulling-out of the card by methods different from each other. The lock member is moved to the contact position from the retreated position to prevent pulling-out of the card when the abnormal pulling-out of the card from the card insertion port is detected by the plurality of types of the pulling-out detection mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 10150632
Abstract: A system and method of detecting the presence of metallic objects in media to be conveyed in a medium transport system is disclosed. One or more metal detectors are included in the medium transport system to detect the presence of metal in the medium being transported. Signals from the metal detectors are sent to a system processor, which analyzes the signals, and produces proximity, duration, and/or intensity values therefrom. One or more microphones may also be included which detect the sound created as the medium is being transported. The processor computes sound values from the microphone signals, and analyzes the computed sound values along with the proximity, duration, and/or intensity values in order determine if the conveyance of the medium along the transport path should be stopped due to the presence of metal in the media or a jam occurring within the medium transport path.
