  • Patent number: 11875259
Abstract: Provided is a system and methodology which enhances the readability of barcodes using machine learning techniques wherein a model is trained using exemplary data and the resulting model is used in production to increase the chances of successfully capturing the data in a barcode notwithstanding that the barcode may be of low quality. According to the teachings of the present invention, the system is trained using large quantities of synthetic personal information associated with barcodes. Once the system is placed into production, the trained model is applied as against newly identified barcodes to enhance the readability of the original barcode based on features associated with the trained model.

Codes comprising both a human-readable and a machine-readable portion may associate with an animal ID within one study, and a study ID within a vivarium, respectively. A human-readable code uses a subset of an alphanumeric symbol set. A machine-readable code uses a vine-code with a visible spine aligned with the rodent's tail. Both symbologies support a system for deleting symbols and correcting codes marked in error. Both symbologies use symbol sets comprising only horizontal and vertical line segments. Both symbologies include a sparse mapping table for mapping marking codes to animal and study ID, and for error detection and for code re-use.

  • Patent number: 9536412
Abstract: An alarm system comprising at least one first signal source communicating with a central unit configured for providing a logically true alerting signal when predetermined conditions are met. The signal sources may include transponders and a confidential list containing the relation between an RFID chip and the name of the person identified may be stored in a computer. A verification unit is connected to independent signal sources and is configured for providing a logically true verification signal when predetermined conditions are met. The signal sources may also comprise means for measuring bio-functions, and the verification unit may be carried by a safety manager. In such a case, the safety manager will also be able to confirm or reject an alerting alarm from the central unit manually. An alarm signal is activated if and only if the alerting signal is true and the verification signal is true.

  • Patent number: 9479278
Abstract: A communication terminal having a digital communication circuit and an automatic synchronizer. The digital communication circuit utilizes time division multiplexing in a single radio channel, selectable in a frequency band. The terminal implements a wireless communication in a conference and hands-free mode on an autonomous network between at least two wearers of similar terminals. The automatic synchronizer synchronizes to the signal of other terminal in the group to synchronize its internal time reference. This ensures the continuity of communication between each terminal in the group within a range of each other, even when the communication is lost with other terminals in the group. No particular terminal is required to maintain the synchronization in the group.

  • Patent number: 9292611
Abstract: A firmware setup utility executing on a computing system is configured to display a two-dimensional barcode, such as a Quick Response (“QR”) code. The two-dimensional barcode may be encoded with data about the computing system and/or a hyperlink specifying a location from which additional information may be retrieved. Another device, such as a mobile device, may be utilized to scan the two-dimensional barcode, decode the information contained therein, and present the data. If a hyperlink is encoded in the two-dimensional barcode, the device may retrieve the additional information from the specified location and present the retrieved data.

  • Patent number: 9288753
Abstract: Mobile access points typically run on batteries, and therefore, can operate for a limited amount of time without an external power source. However, because the access point service model requiring the access point to always be available and the access point's limited battery capacity reduces the time that the mobile access point can be used. Functionality can be incorporated in mobile access points to implement power saving mechanisms by altering the service model that requires the access point to always be available. Configuring the access point to enter into a low powered state for a predefined period of time can conserve mobile access point power and prolong battery life. Functionality for implementing power saving mechanisms can also be incorporated on fixed access points for efficient utilization of computing resources.
