The control unit detects the light receiving signal after a waiting period and obtains a second detection result. The control unit makes second determination based on the second detection result by determining whether the processing unit can execute the function. The control unit makes the second determination in a second mode that requires small consumption power, and according to determination in the second determination in the second mode that the processing unit can execute the function, the control unit keeps the second mode and makes the first determination.

Abstract: In an inherited communication management apparatus, a storage unit stores viewing information relating to the content viewing state of a user of a terminal. On a request from the user of the terminal for content viewing, a requesting unit requests another inherited communication management apparatus to examine whether or not the other inherited communication management apparatus stores viewing information including information relating to interruption of the content viewing by the user. A receiving unit receives a result of the examination requested by the requesting unit. When the examination result received by the receiving unit includes the viewing information including information relating to the interruption of the content viewing, a transmitting unit transmits information relating to interrupted content based on the viewing information to the terminal of the user that has requested the content viewing.

  • Patent number: 8763908
Abstract: The present technology relates to methods, systems and computer program products for detecting objects in images captured by a camera of a mobile device. The detection of objects (such as barcodes, QR codes, and text) in images can be based at least in part on image gradients of the image. The image can be divided into a plurality of regions, each having a dominant gradient direction. Based at least in part on the dominant gradient directions of the regions satisfying orientation thresholds, the regions can be identified as candidate or non-candidate regions for corresponding to a predetermined object. The candidate regions can be merged if they satisfy a connecting criterion. The merged regions can then be analyzed to determine if the merged regions satisfy a geometric property of the predetermined object, such as having a rectangular shape substantially similar to that of a barcode.
