  • Patent number: 6526700
Abstract: The present invention is a rain water downspout for shooting water away from a building. It includes a vertical downspout column for receiving and holding rainwater. The downspout column has an outlet at its lower end. A buoyant column inside the downspout column rests on the bottom of the downspout column and blocks the downspout column outlet until the downspout column fills with enough water to cause the buoyant column to float. A nozzle is attached to the downspout outlet. The nozzle can be oriented to shoot a stream of water away from the building. When the buoyant column inside the downspout rises, water flows out of the downspout column under pressure and shoots out from the nozzle away from the building.

  • Patent number: 6378912
Abstract: A system and method for installing plumbing spouts, such as shower heads and tub spouts, includes providing a stub out which protrudes out of a wall at shower height. A specialized adapter is then slid onto the protruding stub out until the adapter abuts the wall. The adapter is internally threaded with an integral ferrule, and may also be equipped with a one-way gripper ring and an O-ring to sealingly secure the spout to the stub out. The stub out, if closed, is then cut off outside the adapter and a standard shower arm or nipple for a tub spout is threaded into the adapter. A threaded end of the shower arm or nipple engages the ferrule and compresses it against the stub out creating a seal therebetween. When installing a shower head, an escutcheon plate is adapted to be slid over the shower arm to engage peripheral fingers of the adapter to secure the escutcheon in place. A shower head is then threaded onto the shower arm to complete the installation.

  • Patent number: 4976072
Abstract: A fluid directing means is described that can be used with a conventional garden hose or connected directly to a water tap for applying a linear array of water across a work piece such as an automobile, undergoing repair. The linear array of water consisting essentially of side-by-side streams of water emitted from a flexible hose closed at a far wall and having a series of openings along a segment of its side wall. Because of the size, shape and orientation of the openings, there is sufficient volume of water to facilitate the shaping, smoothing and polishing of the damaged area without undue waste. In addition, a series of non-marring suction cups are provided. The cups are oriented so that the working edge of each cup define a suction plane normal to the axis of symmetry of each opening. In one arrangement, the array of openings directs the streams of water from an essentially common height above the earth's surface at a maximum impact angle (90 degrees).

  • Patent number: 4901927
Abstract: A dual shower head assembly for use in personal showers to allow two people to shower independently at the same time, one person to shower in a conventional manner or one person to shower with two separate sprays. The assembly includes an upper shower head, a lower shower head, a substantially "S"-shaped connecting conduit, a diverter valve assembly and an adjustable shut-off valve. The diverter valve assembly is adapted for threaded engagement with the water supply pipe protruding from the shower wall and defines a pair of water outlets, one of which communicates with and is pivotally connected to the lower end of the connecting conduit. The shut-off valve is carried by the diverter valve assembly and communicates with the other of the water outlets in the diverter valve for selectively allowing water flow therethrough. The lower shower head communicates with and is pivotally mounted on the shut-off valve, downstream of the diverter valve.

Abstract: A combined spray tube and support assembly is provided for use with a spray container such as an aerosol can and the like. The assembly comprises an elongated spray tube adapted for removable seating within a discharge port of a spray nozzle unit on the spray container. When separated from the spray nozzle unit, the spray tube is removably retained by a support member on the spray container or on a cap for the spray container. In a preferred form, the support member comprises a vertically open support ring on the cap which cooperates with short outwardly projecting tabs near one end of the spray tube to support the spray tube alongside the spray container, with the tabs facilitating manipulation to seat the spray tube within the nozzle discharge port.

  • Patent number: 4667351
Abstract: A spray flushing attachment for vehicle holding tanks, installed during initial manufacture or subsequently installed, is used to effectively and thoroughly clean out a vehicle holding tank, during the emptying of the holding tank. It is positioned in part through a hole in a holding tank end wall and secured from the outside, at a location opposite to the other end wall, in which a standard holding tank drain has been factory installed. When cleaning water under pressure is supplied through a hose to standard PVC pipe fittings attached to the spray flushing attachment, its interior horizontally diverging spray nozzle pointed toward the drain creates a wide spray across the bottom of this vehicle holding tank, which effectively cleans out the tank so no residue remains.

  • Patent number: 4642909
Abstract: A wall mounted hair dryer has an outlet for dispensing heated air which is movable to multiple positions and in multiple directions. The degrees of movement include translational and rotational degrees of freedom. Translational movements are provided by the outlet itself while an extension tube may be provided to permit additional translational degrees of freedom of movement as well as a rotational degree of movement. The translational degrees of freedom of movement permit the position of the outlet to be proximate the head of the person whose hair is being dried; the rotational degree of freedom of movement permits the selection of the direction in which the heated air is directed. The person whose hair is being dried may accomplish collateral tasks as his hair is being dried.

Abstract: An ablution faucet includes a wall-mounted control valve and a flexible conduit having a hand-held control unit at the end thereof. The hand-held control unit includes a body portion from which a nozzle projects, and a lever for controlling the flow of water through the nozzle. The body portion includes a piston which is always urged into engagement with a valve seat by water pressure and a piston-actuating member engageable by the lever. Various alternative embodiments of the piston and piston-actuating member are disclosed. The wall-mounted control valve also includes a piston which is biased to a valve-closed position by water pressure, as well as a vacuum breaker. An alternative embodiment of the invention employs a cable disposed within the hose and connected in valve-actuating relationship between the lever and the wall-mounted control valve.

  • Patent number: 4456177
Abstract: A self-return mechanism for a car wash hose boom swivel assembly includes a cam and a cam follower assembly which counteracts a force caused by the drooping of a flexible hose that extends from an end of a hose boom arm to a spray wand positioned in a wand holder that is attached to a side wall of a car wash bay near an open end thereof. The self-return mechanism returns the hose boom arm to a position such that the drooping portion of the hose is held out of the path of a vehicle as it moves into the bay. If the hose boom arm is within a predetermined 90.degree. arc, the cam follower mechanism produces a self-returning force on the hose boom swivel assembly, but if the hose boom arm is outside of the 90.degree. arc, the swivel assembly rotates without being subjected to any such self-returning force.

  • Patent number: 4240265
Abstract: Apparatus for attachment to an air conditioner condenser for applying a mist of water or other liquid to the coils and fins of the condenser to improve the heat transfer capability of the condenser. The apparatus includes a spray nozzle, support structure for the spray nozzle, fluid conductors, a fluid valve member, a temperature sensing member, and a valve control member. The temperature sensing member, through the valve control member, causes the spray to operate only when certain predetermined temperature conditions exist. The temperature sensing member is positioned so that it, as well as the coils and fins of the condenser, receives water sprayed as a mist by the spray nozzle. Thus, the temperature conditions which exist in the coils and fins also exists in the temperature sensing member.
