Abstract: Provided is a bubble generating mechanism that does not use a complicated air mixing mechanism and generates micro-bubbles in a sufficient quantity. A flow path (2) that connects an inflow opening (2n) that opens on an inflow end and an outflow opening (2x) that opens on an outflow end is formed in a state passing completely through a member main body (6), and a constricted part (2c) the flow-through cross-sectional area of which is smaller than the inflow opening (2n) is formed in a position within that flow path (2). Colliding parts (3) that further reduce the cross-sectional area of the flow path in the constricted part (2c) are disposed in the constricted part (2c) in a state that divides the axial plane of the flow path (2) into three or more segment areas (2e).

Abstract: Showerheads with two or more nozzles configured to deliver water streams that converge at one or more regions. Prior to convergence, the converging water streams may generally retain a recognizable shape determined by the type of nozzle. Upon convergence, at least portions of the converging water streams may substantially disperse into multiple individual water droplets. The nozzles, or a face plate or other components joining the nozzles to a showerhead, may be selectively movable to selectively move the region or regions of convergence closer to or further away from the showerhead, or to convert the nozzles from delivering converging streams to delivering non-converging streams or vice versa. Some showerheads may further include other nozzles for delivering water from the showerhead in other modes, such a high pressure mode, a pulsating mode, a mist mode, and so on.

Abstract: A firefighting nozzle is provided with a relief valve assembly that opens to discharge a fine spray or “curtain” of liquid extending 360° around the nozzle, thus cooling off the nozzle operator and the surrounding area, while at the same preventing dangerous pressure build-up in the nozzle. In a preferred embodiment, the relief valve assembly comprises a housing having a substantially cylindrical side wall defining a bore. A tubular sleeve divides the bore into two parts: a cylindrical inner passage defining the primary flow path for liquid traveling through the nozzle; and an annular space defining a valve chamber. A plurality of relief ports is formed in a 360° degree pattern around the side wall of housing, each relief port defining a secondary flow path extending substantially perpendicularly to the primary flow path. An annular plug is mounted for sliding movement on the inner sleeve, from a first position blocking the relief ports to a second position allowing flow therethrough.

Abstract: A sealed microfluidic conduit assembly is fabricated by forming a joint through which a first conduit fluidly communicates with a second conduit, by bringing the first conduit into contact with the second conduit. A layer of malleable material surrounding one or both conduits is compressed against the joint to fluidly seal the joint, by applying a radial force to an outer surface of a jacket surrounding the conduits and malleable layer. The respective compositions and/or sizes of the first conduit and second conduit may be different.

Abstract: An improvement to a roadside sprayer fixates spray nozzles on a registration plate. The registration plate may include integral tabs depending on the application. Inclination of the tabs is adjustable to place streams and droplets in a desired swath coverage. With the nozzles rigidly mounted onto the plate, the entire plate is nutated. The use of the registration plate in a spray unit creates a uniform nutation among the nozzles, thereby reducing variability in droplet placement, and providing a more predictable spray from the nozzles. In other embodiments, the spray unit is utilized in a spray system adaptable to service vehicles, and may be utilized in conjunction with a vegetation engagement device, such as a cutter to engage multiple zones of a roadway right-of-way. Additionally, an improved spray unit includes an electromagnetic field and an attractor to generate plate motion.

Abstract: A fluid spraying or nozzle system adapted for use with cold fluids, viscous fluids or fluids under light pressure includes a fluidic oscillator having a power nozzle and an oscillation chamber coupled to the power nozzle for issuing a jet of fluid into the oscillation chamber and an outlet aperture spraying a jet of fluid into ambient space. The oscillation inducing interaction region defines an outlet throat width which is adapted to work with the power nozzle's width and an a bell-shaped feed that spreads the fluid jet as it leaves the power nozzle, so that the interaction region and feedback channels are quickly filled with fluid at a low pressure and the fluidic oscillator is activated to generate a desired fan pattern of fluid spray.
