Patent number: 4942647Abstract: A buckle fitting that can tension with leverage, lengths of belt or webbing. The buckle will lock the belt at any point along its length until freed by a quick release mechanism. The buckle consists of two u-sections pivotably connected at one end to allow a hinge action of the longer upper section about the lower section. A spring loaded cam with a limited movement, rocks away from the surface of the lower section to allow belt to move forward and moves closer to the surface of the lower section to prevent belt moving backwards. A cylindrical roller locates across the lower section between the cam and the hinged join. A slot in the upper section allows belt to pass through when the upper section is closed over the lower section. Patent number: 4631784Abstract: The buckle consists of a buckle body, an angled buckle cover and a slider. The buckle cover is provided with a plate for engaging a band that is to be fixed. Cheeks protrude from the longitudinal edges of the plate. The angled buckle cover is movably mounted in the cheeks. When the cover is in its closed position, a shorter arm of the cover extends into a recess, which extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the plate. The shorter arm of the buckle cover selectively holds the belt or the slider in position. For this purpose the slider has an aperture for latching the shorter arm. The shorter arm of the cover extending into the recess in the plate is shorter than the clearance between the cheeks.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1984Date of Patent: December 30, 1986Inventor: Gerhard Fildan

Patent number: 4507829Abstract: A buckle intended for use primarily with wide, flat strapping material used in the air cargo transportation industry. The buckle has a body member and an "over-center" handle member journaled on a journal pin attached thereto such that the handle member acts like a lever and the journal pin as a fulcrum in tensioning the strap. With the buckle in the open position, the strap is fed into the buckle and looped around the journal pin. Rotating the handle member to the closed position causes a load pin attached to the handle member to impact the strap and deflect its path in the buckle, thereby pulling the strap taut under considerable torque load. In the prior art buckles, two load pins were required to apportion that torque load between them to keep the strap from slipping as the load pins could rotate at high torque loads. The need for two load pins is eliminated in the present invention by using only one load pin which is attached in such a way that the pin cannot rotate, even under such high torque loads.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1983Date of Patent: April 2, 1985Inventor: Robert Looker
