  • Patent number: 4420858
Abstract: A device for adjusting the length of a band or the like which comprises a first and a second component member. The first component member comprises an annular body having a passage of substantially rectangular cross section for a portion of the band to be passed through and a bearing slot or recess formed in the bottom wall of the body. The second component member comprises a plate having an upstanding end portion the upper edge of which is preferably serrated and a depending tongue adjacent to the end portion thereof. When the first and second component members are connected, the tongue of the second component member engages the bearing slot or recess of the first component member to securely fasten said portion of the band between the upper edge of the upstanding end portion of the second component member and the inner surface of the top wall of the first component member.

  • Patent number: 4332061
Abstract: An adjustable clasp for interconnecting two sections of a bracelet, including in combination a coupling assembly secured to the end of one bracelet section, and a clamp assembly detachably fixable at selected locations along the length of the other bracelet section. The clamp assembly has a bottom wall with opposed side walls extending substantially normal thereto. A resilient pressure plate is supported by the side walls at a location cooperating with the bottom wall to define a space therebetween for receiving the said other bracelet section. A rigid clamping member also is supported by the side walls. The clamping member is adjustable between an open position allowing limited movement of the pressure plate relative to the bottom wall in order to accommodate slidable movement of the said other bracelet section through said space, and a closed position resiliently deflecting the pressure plate to positively grip the said other bracelet section between the pressure plate and the bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 4233713
Abstract: A lockable buckle for belts, straps and the like, consisting of an exterior housing, or shoe, accommodating a freely movable locking slide which forms, between it and the inside of the housing, a locking area for nipping a belt or the like passing through the buckle. One end of the slide is drawn out into a curved portion hooked onto and partially surrounding an eccentric cam means turnable by an operating arm and arranged to press this end of the slide against the belt during locking. The opposite end of the slide has a transverse slot through which the belt passes for access to the locking area between the slide and the shoe, the tension in the belt pressing this end of the slide against the belt.

  • Patent number: 4191413
Abstract: A trunk retainer assembly for an automobile that provides a structure for holding the trunk lid securely when an oversized load has been placed into the automobile trunk compartment that necessitates the trunk lid being left in a partially open position. The trunk retainer assembly has an elongated strap and a buckle. The buckle has a strap attaching portion, an intermediate portion, and a mounting portion. The strap attaching portion has a pair of longitudinally spaced slots, one of these being a top slot and the other a bottom slot. These slots extend laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the strap attaching portion whereby the strap may be threaded through the top slot and then direction reversed 180 degrees so that it can be threaded downwardly through the bottom slot. The mounting portion of the buckle has an aperture adjacent its upper end through which a threaded bolt passes for securing the buckle to the interior of the trunk lid.

  • Patent number: 4148224
Abstract: This box type belt adjuster includes a box open at least at one end so as to form a passage therein for a belt or other webbing around a cam which latter is supported on a transverse shaft in the box. A snap-on cap covers the inner end of the passage and encloses a space for a yoke engaging the cam for turning it in the passage. The height of the passage and the distance between the risers of the cam are so related that when the cam is turned to move the risers toward the opposite top and bottom of the passage the clearance is slightly less than the thickness of the belt or webbing whereby when the cam is so turned the belt is jammed between the top and bottom of the passage and the risers of the cam. A manipulating extension extends from the lever to the outside of the cap for turning the cam in a direction to increase the clearance between the risers and the respective sides of the passage.

  • Patent number: 4025991
Abstract: A belt buckle comprising a channel-like shell inclusive of a web joining a pair of flanges. A slide adapted to be secured to one end of a belt is slidably mounted in the shell in spaced relation to the web for receiving the other end of the belt therebetween. A gripping member is disposed between the web and the slide and is pivoted eccentrically to the flanges. The gripping member has a tongue that operates in a slot in the slide so that belt tension moves the slide against the tongue to oscillate and force the gripping member to grip the belt between the latter and the web.
