Two outer engaging hooks and a locating plate project from outer side of the first section toward the bending section. Two ends of the strap are curved into a circular shape with the first section overlapping the second section on inner or outer side thereof. The inner or outer engaging hooks and locating plate of the first section are engaged in the engaging holes of the second section to form a fastening ring. The inner or outer engaging hooks can be engaged in different engaging holes to achieve a longer adjustment length of the fastening ring.

In one embodiment, the cut-outs along the sides are segmentally shaped while a window in the central area is made of a shape resembling an hourglass. Adjacent sections are connected with each other by transversely extending web portions delimited in the longitudinal direction by end surfaces of the central cut-outs. A clamp structure utilizing a band of the aforementioned type, especially a clamping band made from galvanized or stainless steel, offers numerous advantages, especially if a so-called "Oetiker" ear is used to tighten the clamp structure about the object to be fastened thereby.

    Abstract: A banding assembly has a needle at one end, a long thin band, and a buckle at the other end. The buckle is provided with upstanding elements on either side of a channel which receives the band. The elements have openings adapted to be engaged by a towel clamp to retain the buckle as the band is drawn through the channel and locks into position. The elements are normally spaced apart by a distance slightly less than the width of the band. Once locked into place, the band is trimmed, leaving a tail extending from the buckle. The tail is bent backwards and "snap fits" between the elements. The elements are then crimped over the tail to retain it on the buckle and to cover any sharp edges. A dome-like member is provided to guide the band into the channel. The buckle is attached to the end of the band by spaced tabs which extend through openings in the band and are crimped toward each other.

The projection can be inserted into the slot and can be locked in this position. In order to avoid the danger of locking the projection at its insertion into the slot, and to assure that the end portions retain their required relative position when applying tension to the clamp, the projection is a circumferentially extending bar and the slot has a pair of flaps on opposite edges of the slot and protruding into the slot. The bar has notches which are provided for the radial passing of the flaps and the bar is shorter than the slot of the clamp in a circumferential direction.
