  • Patent number: 5203809
Abstract: A self-tightening lamp formed from spring steel band material which exerts clamping forces by the inherent springiness of the band material. To minimize outwardly projecting parts with their injury danger and to obtain an inner clamping surface substantially devoid of any gaps or steps, the end of the outer band end portion is provided with an elongated slot adapted to receive the tongue-like overlapped inner band end portion. Temporary locking of the clamp is realized by a detent member in the tongue-like inner band end portion adapted to be lockingly engaged by a locking surface in the outer band portion. The elongated slot is thereby of such width as to accommodate the tongue-like inner band portion whereby the detent member is located in the elongated slot when the clamp is in its clamping position.

Projections are formed on the underlying end portion, in order to be fitted into the holes made in the overlying end portion. A tightening lug is included in the overlying end portion of the band. The lug comprises a pair of outwardly protruding legs set apart in the lengthwise direction of the band, and a main section connecting the upper ends of the legs and plastically bent in such a way that the portion, which is the center as viewed in the widthwise direction, protrudes inwardly, and both end portions protrude outwardly.

Abstract: The invention relates to a clamp constituted by a band of metal comprising, at each one of its ends, complementary tightening and/or fastening means, whereas the inner end of the band comprises an extension which goes beyond the corresponding fastening means, under the outer end of the band.In this clamp, the transversal edge of the band, which constitutes the free end of the extension, has a profile indented into the band, such as an .OMEGA.-shaped profile, whereas close to its outer end, and on this side of the corresponding tightening and/or fastening means, said band comprises an elongated boss, which projects from its inner face, and is adapted to penetrate into the indented profile of the free end of the extension, said boss having its maximum height substantially equal to the thickness of the band.

  • Patent number: 4713863
Abstract: A reuseable open type clamp comprising an arcuate-like strap having two generally opposing, spaced ends, each of which has been bent outwardly of the general periphery of the clamp, to form first and second ears with one of the ears having an aperture therein and the other of the ears having a projection thereon extending outwardly from its respective ear, with the projection being adapted to be received in the aperture in the closed condition of the clamp, to hold the strap in closed clamping condition. Removal of the projection from the aperture enables the clamp to spring to open position due to the nature resiliency of the strap portion.

  • Patent number: 4638531
Abstract: An improved hose clamp of the kind comprising a tightening band which is bent to annular shape and which has end portions one of which is provided with transverse grooves. In the latter engage the threads of a screw worm which is rotatably journalled in a sleeve enclosing the screw worm but axially non-slidable therein. Said sleeve is formed with a space allowing the threaded band end portion to be moved out of the sleeve upon rotation therein of the screw worm. The opposite band end portion which is attached to the sleeve is elastic in its lengthwise direction and encloses a pressure strap which is bent to annular shape with its end portions overlapping. This pressure strap is arranged to form a guide means to the screw worm sleeve and to the tightening band between said sleeve and said band and an enclosed article. The tightening band describes an arcuate line in the plane of the external face of the pressure strap along the major portion of the circumference of the latter.
