  • Patent number: 5927031
Abstract: A stabilizer frame enables a single worker to attach a strip of corner polymer siding to a building. The stabilizer frame includes a right-angled inward-facing surface which receives the corner siding exterior faces and also includes wall-engaging surfaces. The worker raises the strip of corner siding against the building and holds it with the stabilizer frame by one hand. The other hand may insert a tack into a slotted post provided on the frame and drive the tack through the corner siding into a building wall. The process is repeated to secure both edges of the corner siding throughout the length of the corner siding.

Abstract: The tree fastener includes a shank, a head and wings on first and second opposed sides of the shank. The wings are split along the tool parting line into wing portions which extend from the shank at different angles so that the spacing between wing portions is one half the distance between successive wings. Additionally, the wing portions are diagonally paired so that wing portions on a first opposed side of the shank and a first side of the tool parting line extend from the shank at the same angle as wing portions on a second opposed side of the shank and a second side of the tool parting line. Likewise, wing portions on a second side of the shank and a first side of the tool parting line extend from the shank at the same angle as wing portions on a first side of the shank and a second side of the tool parting line.

  • Patent number: 5857244
Abstract: The invention includes a fastener with a molded-on compliant seal having a fastener portion including a shaft and an insertion head at a first end for extending through an apertured panel and locking against a rear face thereof. A base for attaching an object thereto is provided at the second end of the shaft. A rigid seal support extends outwardly from the shaft at a location between the first and second ends. The fastener portion including shaft, insertion head, base and seal support are preferably made from a single piece of relatively rigid material. A compliant seal covers at least the portion of the rigid seal support on surface facing the insertion head and extends outwardly from the support. The compliant seal is positioned to engage the front face of the panel providing a water barrier surrounding the aperture. The present invention does not rattle or produce other undesirable sounds during vehicle operation due to the compliant seal.

Abstract: A buffer clip for preventing the generation of an uncomfortable sound and wherein an impact force absorbing member does not separate from the clip due to vibration or the like. The buffer clip is inserted and fitted into a mounting hole formed in a concave portion vehicle roof trim near the free end of a sun visor and a clearance for allowing insertion of a user's hand is formed between the sun visor and an outer covering material of the roof trim of the vehicle interior. The force due to impact when the sun visor is raised is absorbed by a soft layer of the buffer clip. For this reason, the roof trim does not resonate and no uncomfortable sound is produced. Further, the soft layer is formed so as to cover a flange of the clip and a catch member of the soft layer engages a catch portion of the flange. Accordingly, there is no possibility that the soft layer can separate from the clip due to vibration or the like.

  • Patent number: 5601899
Abstract: An integral fastener particularly for use in mounting a sheet material to a structural member with a plurality of threaded studs. The integral fastener in one embodiment is connected to the sheet by a web adjacent an aperture in the sheet. The fastener has an opening that defines multiple flaps. To fasten the sheet material to the stud, the stud is inserted through the sheet aperture and the fastener is pressed on the stud so that it extends through the fastener opening, deflecting the flaps, which engage the threads of the stud. In another embodiment, the fastener is formed within the sheet and defines an opening through which the stud passes. In a third embodiment, the stud comprises a T-shaped flange and the fastener has a slotted opening at an acute angle to the plane of the T-shaped flange to retain the fastener on the T-shaped flange.

  • Patent number: 5596843
Abstract: A rigid structural member for a building in which the member has four sides each provided with a groove having narrow opening. Two of the grooves on two opposite sides be used to assemble structural members together to provide completed building assemblies by the use of screw-threaded members while, in the completed assembly, the other two grooves are used for holding two building enclosure sheets in spaced positions, one on each side of the completed assembly. For this purpose, elongate holding members are located in the grooves to hold the sheets in place. The holding members have a particular design which secures them in place within the grooves. The grooves are preferably T-shaped and are all of the same size and shape to increase the versatility. In addition, the structural member may be formed into building structures which are hinged together such that they may be in a collapsed condition for storage and transportation or may be relatively pivoted into an erected condition.

  • Patent number: 5592720
Abstract: A clip not only has a substantially cylindrical clip main body arranged on a side surface of a base plate so as to be integral with the base board, but also has a pair of flexible blades arranged in tonguelike form so as to be sloped upward toward the clip main body at positions close to the clip main body with the base plate as the basal ends of such flexible blades. Further, a pair of retaining protuberances having flexibility are formed on a circumferential wall surface of the clip main body so as to be integral with the clip main body. The flexible blades are disposed so as to be substantially 90.degree. shifted from positions at which the retaining protuberances are formed. Still further, notches are formed so as to accommodate the front ends of the pair of flexible blades at positions confronting the pair of flexible blades on the circumferential wall surface of the clip main body.

Abstract: The invention employs a post type fastening member that provides, at one end, an insertion friction connection to the circuit card and at the other end, extending through the heat sink, a compression spring means that urges the heat sink toward the circuit card. A plurality of the post type fasteners are positioned around the periphery of the chip package to retain the heat sink parallel to the circuit card and compressing the chip package. The packaging structure of the invention permits larger area heat sinks than the chip package area to be supported by the circuit card with the only relationship with the chip being that of a compression thermal transfer contact and radiation shield.

Abstract: A fastener assembly and method for attaching a first member to a second member. The fastener assembly includes a socket member which defines a socket and a stud which includes a head engagable with the socket of the nut. The stud is attached to a first member and the nut is attached to a second member. The assembly is initially attached to the first member by attaching the stud to the first member and then inserting the nut into the second member. When the first member must be removed from the second member, the head of the stud is forcibly disengaged from the socket of the nut. Reattachment of the first member the second member is achieved by forcibly engaging the head with the socket. After the initial insertion, the socket member remains captively retained on the second member.
