  • Patent number: 4489465
Abstract: An integrally formed fastener molded of plastic material. Such fastener comprises an enlarged head, a shank, shoulders defined near the upper end of the shank, a pair of flexible wings joined to the lower end of the shank, and a pair of stops defined on the shank to limit the movement of the wings toward the shank. The wings flex inwardly until they contact the stops, and then the wings roll inwardly about the stops as the fastener is pushed through aligned apertures in security boxes, panels, etc. While the plastic material, such as polypropylene, possesses sufficient resiliency to be rolled inwardly, the wings will break and/or the shank may fail when the fastener is forcibly withdrawn from its seated position, thus providing a positive indication of an attempted breach of security.

The head contains a locking tang and a guide channel that receives the strap after encirclement of items to be harnessed. The tang engages the rungs of the ladder strap for the adjustable retention of the harnessed items. The free end of the strap has a light-weight webbed tail that facilitates the insertion of the strap into the head. The strap is advantageously molded of a stretch reorientable material and is subsequently stretched to produce a suitable strengthening and elongation of the webbed tail.

Abstract: A plastic clip comprises an insertion piece adapted to be inserted into the groove of an object having a section of the shape of the letter "C" from one end thereof, a neck portion projecting from the center of one surface of the insertion piece and adapted to pass along the slit communicating with the groove of the object, and an oblong head piece formed at the leading end of the neck portion. The insertion piece of the clip is provided with four flexible wings projecting outwardly from the four positions on the outer boundary of the central piece. With this clip, the object is fixed on a given panel by causing the central portion of the insertion piece to be slid into the groove of the object, then allowing the oblong head piece of the clip to be passed through a matched oblong hole bored in advance in the panel and finally turning the protruding oblong head piece by 90.degree., and the removal of the object from the panel is effected by turning the oblong head piece by another 90.degree..
