    Abstract: Disclosed is a protective strip assembly for use in protecting walls, cabinets, display stands, and the like from impact by shopping carts and the like in retail outlets. The assembly comprises an elongate base member and an overfitting protective trim member held together by opposed interlocking ridges and notches. The overfitting protective trim member absorbs shock as opposed leg members resiliently spread transversely to the axis of the strip assembly at interfitting sliding surfaces. Optional inwardly deformable latching elements may be included in the base member to permit the trim member to be fitted during installation directly adjacent an abutting wall or other obstruction.

    Abstract: Two plates are connected to each other through brackets and fixing pins. The bracket includes a base disc portion, a semi-cylindrical wall portion and a pair of projections. The wall portion is perpendicular to the base disc portion. The projections radially outwardly extend from diametrically opposed portions of the wall portion. One of the two plates has an opening. The opening has concentrically connected smaller and larger circular portions and a pair of notches. The notches are positioned at diametrically opposed portions of the smaller circular portion and have the same thickness as that of the smaller circular portion. The smaller and larger circular portions and the notches are so sized as to receive the semi-cylindrical wall portion, the base disc portion and the projections, respectively. The thickness of the smaller circular portion is the same as the distance between the projection and the base disc portion. The thickness of the larger circular portion is the same as that of the base disc portion.

    Abstract: A bolt insert 24 with special bolt 50 provides a fastening method to secure hard metal nuclear reactor parts 12, 14, 16 provided with aligned square EDM produced openings 18, 20, 22. The insert is an elongated square internally threaded member with slots 34 defining flexing fingers 36. Fingers 36 have work engaging shoulders 42. Stop means tabs 28 at the bolt head end prevent overinsertion of the square insert 24 during the operation of pushing it into aligned square holes 18, 20, 22. Internal threads 32 of insert 24 mate with bolt threads 60 during torquing on bolt head 52 to advance bolt 50, which has tapered end 56 and pilot portion 58, to cam fingers 36 into holding position. Couterbores 30 receive stop means tabs 28 such that bolt head 52 does not bottom on insert 24. The method of producing fastening 10 removes the need for accurate threading operations on irradiated parts in the remote field.

The upper limit of each middle stay is defined by a separate transverse outwardly extending cross stay which joints to the upper end of the respective resilient finger and the associated middle stay.

    Abstract: An improved adhesive mounted nutplate assembly and related installation method are provided for secured mounting of a nutplate or the like onto a substrate, particularly at a blind side of the substrate in alignment with an access opening. The nutplate assembly includes a nut member having a resilient fixture pin received therein, with the nut member being adapted for adhesive mounting onto the blind side of the substrate with the fixture pin extending through the access opening. A pulling force applied to the fixture pin draws the nut member with a positive force against the substrate. The fixture pin is sized to bind within the access opening when released to maintain this positive force for the duration of an adhesive cure period, after which the fixture pin can be forcibly drawn through and removed from the nut member. A preferred nut member comprises a nutplate having a floating nut carried by a base which is adapted for adhesive mounting onto the substrate.

    Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a plaque holding clip which is characterized by that it has a pair of elastic legs that constitute a trunk of the clip. Because the outer peripheries of the elastic legs are subjected to evenly applied external force and hence smooth changes of load when the clip is introduced into a fitting bore, it maintains its original plaque holding potential for a long time. Moreover, since the outer peripheries of the elastic legs are so designed that they suitably adapt themselves to the inner periphery of a fitting bore, they are free from any undesirable deformations and consequently any changes of the load applied thereto even if the clip is introduced into a fitting bore in an inclined condition. This feature contributes to the ease of handling the clip. A clip according to the invention may be provided with a central pillar to enhance its durability and the ease of handling without deteriorating the other features of the clip.

A mid-length region 6 of the strip 5 between its ends 7 and 8 has integral hinges 13 to 15 so that during displacement of the strip end 7 towards the end 8, the region 6 doubles to project through the apertures 12 and 16 and thereby couple the walls 2 and 3 to restrain them from relative displacement. A combination stop/catch can be provided to temporarily retain the strip end 7 in a position where the mid-length region 6 of the strip is in either a folded or an unfolded condition.

    Abstract: A modular headliner includes an assist strap for mounting to the modular headliner to the vehicle body structure and includes an assist strap fastening means. The fastening means extends to engage a vehicle body adjacent an opening defined by a vehicle body structure. A mandrel may then be inserted between the fastening means to lock the fastening means to the vehicle body structure to thereby mount the assist strap and headliner to vehicle body structure. The assist strap may include a pivotally mounted handle having a preassembly position such that upon displacement of the handle, the mandrel is displaced to the locking position. Additionally a breakaway tab means may secure the handle to the assist strap base such that until sufficient force is applied to the handle to rupture the breakaway tab the handle will not be displaced. The tab is tuned to require that a sufficient force be sufficient to drive the mandrel to the locking position.

    Abstract: The wire clamp of this invention is fixed to a mounting board by resilient engaging portions that extend from a base at the end of a post and spread out in a mounting hole in the mounting board. While the wire clamp is thus secured, it holds wires in its wire receiving portions. The wires are supported at a predetermined interval on the mounting board. This wire clamp is easily mounted by pushing struts toward the post with one's finger tips. The pushed struts resiliently deform, pulling up the ends of beams, which descend toward the resilient engaging portions, until the beams are almost horizontally aligned along the mounting board. The resilient resistance of the beams is reduced accordingly, which facilitates the insertion of the resilient engaging portions. Since the post, the struts, the beams, and the wire-receiving portions almost form a square, the wire clamp is rigid, and can firmly secure the wires.

Retaining flanges are formed integral with the mounting plate. The retaining flanges are grippable by the element to hold the element into a structural relationship with the mounting plate. Supporting flanges, also formed integral with the yieldable toward the mounting plate, provide supportable leverage for the element in cooperation with the retaining flanges. Double sided adhesive tape secures the mounting surface to the supporting surface. A method involves steps of stripping protective backing from the tape and securing it, with the isolator and trim, to the supporting surface.

Installation of the molding into the first and second clips causes the clip assembly to rotate so that the first and second clips obtain effective grip of the molding to retain the molding on the vehicle body and the molding in turn retains the clip assembly against rotation.
