  • Patent number: 8216258
Abstract: A design of a medical clamp is provided that offers improved retention to and gripping of a patient's appendages through an open ended tubular design. The inside of the clamp has a taper approximating human dimensions. The interior has a reticulated surface for enhanced gripability. The exterior is ribbed for patient gripability and air circulation. A condom catheter retention ring is provided along the outer top periphery. The clamp is of a split design with matingly engageable hinge halves held together with a roll pin and forced into its tubular configuration by a spring that pushes against wing extensions projecting from each clamp half. A thumb screw spans the space between the two halves and allows adjustment of the spring pressure as well as defining the closed diameter of the clamp.

  • Patent number: 8096927
Abstract: A shaft-mounted clamp includes a pair of clamp members that are pivotably coupled to one another at one end, each clamp member including a through-hole for receiving the shaft to which the clamp is to be mounted. At least one of the clamp members includes a push rod that extends through the opposite clamp member, and which has a distal end portion that is contacted by an article supported on the shaft to increase the engagement of at least one of the clamp members on the shaft. A coupling device may be provided at one of the clamp members for suspending an article therefrom. The clamps may be readily repositioned along the shaft by squeezing the clamp members together (such as against the biasing force of a spring) to more closely align the through-holes with one another and thereby release the engagement of the clamp members with the shaft.

  • Patent number: 6363588
Abstract: A clamp for closing a polymer bag, including a pair of opposed clamp members wherein said clamp members are movable between a closed and an opened condition, each one of said pair of clamp members having a long axis and an inner and an outer surface. A hinge attaches the pair of clamp members and biases the clamp members into a closed condition. In holding a bag in a closed condition, a blade disposed on the inner surface of one of the clamp members is urged by the hinge against and an opposed recessed anvil, disposed on the inner surface of the other clamp member. In addition, a plurality of ribs disposed parallel to the clamp member long axis and located on the inner surface of each one of said pair of clamp members aid in gripping the bag within the clamp by intercalation of the ribs of one clamp with those of the other clamp. During the bag opening process, the ribs stretch the bag material for effective cutting when the material is moved past the blade.

  • Patent number: 5791024
Abstract: A side-actuated clip that is actuated by using only one hand. The clip consists of two halves, withone stationary and the other pivotal. A pivot shaft having a helical shape passes through a mounting bracket of the second, pivotal plate-half. The mounting bracket has an interior opening corresponding to the shape of the helically-shaped pivot shaft. The pivot shaft is spring biased. As the pivot shaft is translated in the mounting bracket secured to the second, pivotal plate-half, such movement causes the second plate-half to pivot open or closed, depending upon the direction of translation of the pivot shaft. The spring biases the shaft in a linear direction that pivots the second plate-half into its closed, clamping position.
