Patent number: 6082646Abstract: A segmented liner assembly and liner segment fastening system is disclosed for the rotatable shell of an ore grinding machine, the shell having a plurality of mounting bores formed therethrough. The liner assembly consists of a plurality of liner segments each of which has one mounting bore that extends into the body of the segment from its mounting surface and a mounting recess having a transverse size greater than that of the mounting bore which extends from the mounting bore to the grinding surface. A threaded member extends through a mounting bore of the shell and an aligned mounting bore of the segment into the recess of the segment and externally of the shell. The threaded member is screwed into a nut that is seated at the base of the mounting recess. In a first embodiment, the threaded member has an integrally formed wrenching head enabling the threaded member to be rotated and screwed into the nut, thus drawing the liner segment tightly against the inner surface of the shell.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1999Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: ME InternationalInventors: Ronald C. Patent number: 6036127Abstract: A lining element (10) for mounting onto an inner surface of a drum mantle (56) in a grinding mill, comprising an elongated lifter member (12) of a wear resistant material adapted to be axially oriented with respect to the drum mantle and to project radially into the drum, and an elongated single-piece support member (26) of an elastomeric material adapted to resiliently support the elongated lifter member over a full length thereof above the inner surface of the drum mantle. The support member is extended peripherally in a rearward direction with respect to an operational forward direction of rotation of the drum into contact with a subsequent lining element (10) to be mounted onto the inner surface, and to cover entirely therebetween the inner surface of the drum mantle.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1997Date of Patent: March 14, 2000Assignee: Svedala Skega ABInventor: Tage Moller

Patent number: 6009921Abstract: An improved lifter and a method of repairing a damaged lifter employed in a rotary drum debarker of the type which removes the bark of logs by introducing logs into a rotating drum wherein the the logs tumble and flail against one another so that the bark is removed by the tumbling and rubbing action of one log against another. A plurality of lifters are arranged around the interior surface of the drum so that the point or vertex of the lifter is facing toward the axis of rotation of the drum. The lifters are provided with cleats on the vertex of the lifter in the direction of rotation of the drum to protect the lifter from excessive wear. In addition the cleat lifts the logs higher in the drum which improves the tumbling action. Damaged lifters may be repaired by the addition of the cleat to the vertex of the lifter.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1999Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: The Price Companies, Inc.Inventor: Robert Stone, Jr.

Patent number: 6000640Abstract: Process and device for decomposing fibrous material in an installation including a drum having an inner wall, a first end, and a second end, a displacer having an outer wall positioned inside the drum, and a processing channel formed between at least a portion of the outer wall and at least a portion of the inner wall. The process includes pouring fibrous material to be decomposed into the drum, relatively moving the outer wall relative to the inner wall in a peripheral direction of the drum, and mechanically processing the fibrous material in the processing channel.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1998Date of Patent: December 14, 1999Assignee: Voith Sulzer Papiertechnik Patent GmbHInventors: Jochen Krebs, Wolfgang Muller, Andreas Steidele, Klaus Steinbild

Patent number: 5950944Abstract: A novel laminar assembly for use with comminution equipment, such as a liner for protecting the shell of an ore crushing mill or as a wear tip on a blow bar for use in a rock impact crusher. The laminar segment includes a plurality of laminae which are attached to each other with a pair of rods extending through a pair of axial holes positioned in the base of the laminae, thereby forming a segment of virtually any desired length. Conventional mounting bolts may extend through radial holes in the laminae between the axial holes to attach the liner segment to the comminution equipment. The utilization of small laminae enable the laminae to be formed from hardened materials such as heat treated steel or cut from a plate and then heat treated such that the microstructure throughout the laminae may be strictly controlled, thereby providing a laminae with consistent hardness and toughness throughout the laminae.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1998Date of Patent: September 14, 1999Inventor: Darrell R. Patent number: 5896901Abstract: A rotatable debarking drum for removing the bark from logs comprises a cylindrical member and a plurality of axially extending rows of debarking tools circumferentially distributed on an inner circumference of the cylindrical member. Each row of debarking tools includes a plurality of axially spaced-apart arcuate ribs extending transversally relative to the cylindrical member axis. The discontinuous axially extending rows of debarking tools arrangement contributes to increase the efficiency of the overall debarking operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1998Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Les Installations Soudins (1990) Inc.Inventor: Maurice Lacroix
