  • Patent number: 6439486
Abstract: In a method for disposing of waste matter such as waste tire pieces by using first and second shredding members each having shredding blades, the waste matter is introduced into a space between the shredding blades of the first and second shredding members and shredded or torn off into fine chips by operating the first and second shredding members, while partially caught by grooves formed in opposite faces of the shredding blades of the respective shredding members. By moving the first and second shredding members relative to each other in opposite directions to impart a shearing force to the waste matter in the space between the shredding blades, the waste matter is effectively torn off into pieces. When a waste tire is processed in an apparatus for practicing the method, it is successfully separated into rubber parts and wires with high efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5890667
Abstract: A crushing machine having enhanced crushing efficiency. The crushing machine includes an outer casing having a fixed jaw and a movable jaw each having a crushing blade for crushing reinforced concrete. The movable jaw includes a crushing blade having a rear-side edge formed in a substantially right-angled shape with a small arcuate edge portion located at an angled edge portion thereof, and a front-side edge generally formed by a large arcuate edge portion. The rear-side edge of the movable jaw crushing blade is oriented to face in a longitudinally inward direction away from a distal end of the movable jaw. The inward orientation of the rear-side edge along with its substantially right-angled shape allow the movable jaw crushing blade to concentrate the load of the crushing machine to the small point of contact between the movable jaw crushing blade and the reinforced concrete, thereby maximizing the crushing efficiency of the crushing machine.

Abstract: Apparatus is provided for crushing rock into aggregate which utilizes a movable jaw operating relative to a fixed jaw. The movable jaw is supported on upper and lower toggle plates which are positioned in non parallel planes. Rock to be crushed is received in an upper entry region defined by the jaws and by opposed cheek plates cooperable with the jaws. Upon reciprocating movement of an hydraulic actuator, a major movement imparted to the movable jaw at its upper region is in a generally upright plane and a major movement imparted to the movable jaw at its lower region is in a generally horizontal plane transverse of the upright plane. In this manner, improved initial cracking of the rock as it enters the upper entry region is achieved and increased production flow of crushed aggregate is achieved at a discharge region by reason, at that location, of the relative horizontal movement between the fixed and movable jaws.

  • Patent number: 4989797
Abstract: A jaw-type rock crusher has a stationary jaw, a cantilevered swing jaw driven by a toggle drive system, and a top feed opening above the crushing chamber formed between the two jaws. Two lateral hinge supports having an elevated horizontal hinge axis which lies in a plane generally bisecting the crushing chamber hingedly engage lateral support arms forming the upper hinge section of the swing jaw. In accordance with the invention, the lateral hinge supports and the swing jaw's upper support arms straddle the frame of the crusher and its top feed opening to allow the top feed opening to extend behind the swing jaw's hinge axis thereby permitting larger rock to be fed into the crusher and permitting easier access into the crusher for the purpose of dislodging or breaking up over-sized rock. A shock-absorbing back wall positioned behind the hinge axis near the top of the crusher prevents the impact forces of rock fed into the feed opening at high velocities from being fully absorbed by the swing jaw's bearings.

  • Patent number: 4955961
Abstract: A working machine comprises a machine body provided with a pair of arms which are arranged for movement toward and away from each other. The machine body is disposed for rotation, relative to a bracket mounted on the machine body, about an axis. A hydraulic cylinder assembly has a single cylinder defining therein a hydraulic chamber, and a single piston mounted to a piston rod extending through the hydraulic chamber, the piston rod having opposite ends thereof, which extend respectively from opposite ends of the hydraulic chamber, and which are fixedly connected to the bracket. Upon introduction of hydraulic fluid into the hydraulic chamber, the cylinder and a rack fixedly mounted to the outside of the cylinder are moved in the direction perpendicular to the axis, so as to cause a pinion meshing with the rack and the machine body connected with the pinion to rotate about the axis, thereby changing the direction of the plane in which the arms mounted on the machine body are moved.

Abstract: The invention relates to a jaw crusher wherein shims behind a toggle beam define various positions of its fore-and-aft adjustment along way slots in which its end portions are guided, and wherein the toggle beam is shifted forwardly away from the shims and rearwardly towards them by a pair of hydraulic rams, each connected between the housing and an end of the toggle beam. At each end the toggle beam has a forwardly-downwardly inclined surface slidingly overlain by a wedging member that cooperates with the upper surface of the adjacent way slot to wedgingly prevent forward shifting of the toggle beam and confine it against the lower surfaces of the way slots. Each ram has link connections with the toggle beam and with a wedging member whereby the latter is pulled forward out of wedging relationship before the toggle beam is shifted forward and is pushed back to wedging condition after the toggle beam engages the shims.
