Abstract: A roller for use in devices configured to comminute material has a wear surface. The wear surface comprises inserts that are spaced apart differently to provide a desired wear characteristic in the wear surface. In one embodiment, some inserts may also have diameters or widths that are smaller than other inserts. For example, columns of inserts adjacent an end of the roller may have diameters that are smaller or larger than inserts in columns located near the center of the roller or otherwise positioned between the two ends of the roller. As another example, a middle portion of the wear surface may have inserts that include inserts of a larger or smaller diameter than inserts adjacent the ends of the wear surface.

Abstract: To produce flour and/or semolina, raw material is fed into a feed opening of a roller press. The milling gap of the roller press is fixed, or damping of at least one of the rollers with respect to the lateral deflection is set, such that a first subset of the fill containing finer milling material forms a packed particle fill in the milling gap. In addition, the setting is carried out in such a way that individual particles of a second subset of the fill containing coarser milling material are in contact with the first roller and the second roller of the roller press. Subsequently, the bulk material is milled into milled product in the roller press (9) and the milled product is discharged through a discharge opening.

  • Patent number: 8066215
Abstract: A roller press (1) is described for grinding particulate material such as cement raw materials, cement clinker and similar materials, the roller press having two oppositely rotating rollers (2, 3) with one roller being movably supported relative to the other roller and with the rollers (2, 3) forming between them a roller gap (4). A co-rotating annular disc is attached to one of the rollers (2), which subject to actuation by a number of springs (7), is movable in the direction of the roller axis and which, in the area around the roller gap (4,) extends over the end surface (3a) of the other roller. The annular disc is divided into a number of ring sectors (5) over its circumference, each individually biased by springs towards the end surface (3a) of the other roller (3). Hence, it is possible to maintain the grinding bed thickness at the ends of the rollers, thereby attaining a uniform pressure distribution across the rollers, as well as uniform grinding efficiency and uniform wear on the rollers.

  • Patent number: 8038088
Abstract: A device for comminuting feedstock is provided that includes a cutting tool with a first rotor and at least one second rotor, each of which rotate around their longitudinal axis with an opposite rotation direction. Each rotor is provided with a number of cutting discs, which are arranged at an axial distance to one another. In this case, the cutting discs of the first rotor are located on gaps and with radial overlapping relative to the cutting discs of the second rotor. The cutting discs along their circumference have support surfaces for accepting cutting tools, whose cutting edges move past one another over the course of the rotation of rotors with the formation of a cutting clearance. For the positionally precise fixation of the cutting tool on the cutting discs, a positive fit is formed between the cutting tools and cutting discs, a positive fit groove running in the plane of the cutting disc is arranged in the common contact area, the groove in which at least one positive fit strip engages.

Abstract: A rotary chopper element for an integral chopper assembly of a combine harvester, which rotary chopper element includes a cylindrical rotary member having a plurality of ring portions axially aligned in an ordered side-by-side arrangement along the longitudinal axis of the rotary member, with each ring portion having disposed annularly therearound a plurality of mounting lugs, each of which mounting lugs is designed to support or to have affixed thereto at least one knife blade. The mounting lugs on each succeeding ring portion are rotated or offset radially from the lugs of the preceding ring by a predefined amount and the knife blades are attached to the mounting lugs to form mounted assemblies that have beveled leading edges that extend substantially continuously from adjacent to the outer surface of the rotary member to the tips of the knife blades. The knife blades of such mounted assemblies define a plurality of spaced helical arrays that extend along and wrap around the rotary member.
