  • Patent number: 9027867
Abstract: A sheet conveyance unit for transporting a sheet unreeled from a roll of paper includes a roll holder including a pair of supporters to support both axial end portions of the roll, movable in an axial direction of the roll, a pair of first conveyance rollers, a pair of second conveyance rollers, a tensioner to tension the sheet, disposed between the first conveyance rollers and the second conveyance rollers, and a tension adjustment unit. The tensioner includes a contact plate to press against the sheet, extending over an entire width of the sheet and pivotably supported on a casing of the sheet conveyance unit. The tension adjustment unit changes the tension of the sheet by adjusting a force to press the contact plate against the sheet and includes a first adjuster to change the tension of the sheet in conjunction with the interval between the supporters.

  • Patent number: 8020802
Abstract: A dispenser for cutting line or string is provided. The dispenser for flexible cutting line includes a generally rectangular housing configured to accept a spool of cutting line, the housing being formed from two mateable side portions configured to snap together, wherein at least one portion of the housing is formed as a first opening to expose a view of an amount of cutting line on the spool; a donut portion disposed centrally in the housing configured for rotatably supporting the spool of cutting line in the housing; and at least one second opening formed in the housing configured for dispensing of the cutting line from the housing.

  • Patent number: 6945490
Abstract: A traveling yarn tension compensating system having a pair of vertically disposed, horizontally spaced ball-type yarn tensioning units and a yarn tension compensating device disposed therebetween. The device has a yarn engaging element with a yarn engaging surface that is downwardly convex for engaging a yarn thereunder. The surface is fixed so as not to rotate or otherwise move in the direction of travel of the yarn and is made of a material that imposes a tension increasing frictional drag on the traveling yarn. The surface engaging element is mounted to be freely movable vertically in response to tension in the traveling yarn. The convex shape of the yarn engaging surface results in a greater extent of surface engagement of the yarn when the surface engaging element is in a lower position resulting from lesser tension in the yarn and at which position it deflects the yarn downwardly over the yarn guides.

  • Patent number: 6840475
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for the rolling or winding of strip having an equal thickness over the strip width, in which the tension in a strip length portion limited by rolls, winders, or control, guide or deflecting rollers is measured by means of a measuring roller. In order, in this case, to obtain more accurate measurement values and keep disturbing stresses away from the measuring point, between the measuring roller and an assembly (roll, winder, or control, guide or deflecting roller) causing disturbing stresses in the strip, a partitioning device for absorbing the disturbing stresses is arranged.

  • Patent number: 6431481
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for winding conductive wires for a stator of an electric motor. In one embodiment, a hysteretic tensioning apparatus is utilizing to substantially stabilize tension in a conductive wire supplied to a winding machine. The hysteretic tensioning apparatus includes a support member, a brake member, and four idler arms. The brake member is rotatably mounted to the brake member and configured to engage the conductive wire. The idler arms each are spring mounted to the support member and also are configured to engage the conductive wire. The conductive wire is extended across the support member so that it extends between adjacent idler arms and the brake and is inserted into the winding machine.

  • Patent number: 6402077
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a winding bay and a method of winding to provide for a high quality wind of a viscoelastic material. A viscoelastic material and a supporting liner are wound onto a roll. After unwinding the liner from a liner let-off roll, the liner is guided under high tension. Before guiding the viscoelastic material onto the liner, the tension in the liner is isolated to reduce the tension in the liner. The viscoelastic material is guided onto the liner, and the viscoelastic material and the supporting liner are wound onto a windup roll.

  • Patent number: 6311459
Abstract: In a device for loading film (3) on machines for wrapping groups of products, there is an area (H) designed to allow the free passage of the film (3) and located between a drive carriage (4) and one end (6a, 7a) of each of the film (3) feed rollers (6, 7). This area is defined by an extension of each roller (6, 7) and is tapered in relation to the circumference of the rollers. The film (3) can pass freely when it has a narrow configuration, in the form of a tongue (C), and when the free end (3a) of the film (3) is inserted and fed along a path (P) parallel to an original feed path. In the area (H) there are means (8) on which the tongue (c) can slide and which guide the tongue onto the contact and sliding surfaces (6s, 7s) of the rollers (6, 7). The invention also concerns a method for loading the film (3).
