  • Patent number: 8714224
Abstract: There is described a labeling machine for dispensing labels derivable from a web travelling along a feed path and applying them to articles travelling along an article path. The machine includes a web supply reel; a dispenser to unwind the web off the supply reel and for feeding the web towards an affixing station of the labeling machine, at which the labels are sequentially applied to the articles sequentially arriving thereat. The dispenser including a driver to control the advancement along the feed path of the web from which labels are derivable in accordance with the advancement along the article path of the articles to which the labels are to be applied; and a web tension control selectively actuatable to exert on the supply reel a torque directed against the unwinding sense of the web.

Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing cushioning wrap material includes a box having a dispensing opening in communication with an interior of the box. A roll of interleaf material is rotatably positioned within the box such that a free end of the interleaf material can extend through the dispensing opening, and a roll of expandable sheet material in an unexpanded form is rotatably positioned within the box adjacent the first roll of sheet material such that a free end of the expandable sheet material can extend through the dispensing opening. A tensioning assembly is operably associated with the roll of expandable sheet material to control rotational resistance thereof. The interleaf material and the expandable sheet material can be concurrently pulled out of the box in abutting contact by a user and the rotational resistance of the roll of expandable sheet material causes the expandable sheet material to expand in thickness and length.

Abstract: On any given powerboat and any given day on the water the activities of different types of riders/watersports enthusiasts may need ski ropes of different lengths to encompass the experience level of the rider and or the type of watersports activity. The type of powerboat, the experience level of the rider, the amount of wake generated at given distances “off” the powerboat can vary. It is beneficial to be able to adjust the “off” distance of the rider from the powerboat to ensure the rider can use the optimal portion of the powerboats wake to perform tricks. This patent will describe a device that will enable the controlled dispensing, retraction and storage of the ski rope, free from tangles and knots while providing a means to measure, adjust and control the “off” distance of the ski rope for all types of watersports activities and rider experience levels.

Abstract: A method and device for installing synthetic turf uses a motorized turf rollout vehicle and a frame removably carried by the vehicle, the frame holding a roll of synthetic turf on a spindle at a first, forward end thereof. The roll and spindle are held in an orientation that is transverse to the first forward direction, and have a transverse dimension that extends beyond that of the vehicle. As the vehicle moves forward in the first direction, the vehicle engages and pulls the roll of turf, and the vehicle also moves on top of the just-unrolled portion of the turf. This accurately and efficiently places the turf on and over the base, in a desired position. Because the vehicle moves on top of the just unrolled section of turf, the present invention eliminates direct contact with, and disruption to, the underlying prepared base.

Abstract: The insert for roll paper products is pliable, preferably scent-impregnated, foam material that can be wrapped around a dispensing bar of a rolled paper dispenser, and resiliently grips the bar while adding friction to the total dispensing system. The dispensing bar and insert combination is then slid through the hollow core of a rolled paper product. The sleeve has dentate ends that extend beyond the ends of the paper roll. When the product core is rotated while paper is being dispensed, the passage of air through the dentate ends helps to dispense and distribute the scent through the environment proximate the paper dispenser. Moreover, the resilient foam insert provides friction between the paper roll and the foam structure, while also adding friction between the foam structure and the dispensing bar. This feature acts as a brake to prevent excess rollout of the rolled product when being dispensed.

Abstract: The invention concerns a creel (2) comprising a plurality of winding heads (7) from which several yarns of the same type or of different types are drawn simultaneously by means of a winding machine (3). Said creel comprises at least one dynamic yarn tension device (6) which is associated with each winding head and at which a variable braking force is applied to the yarn to produce a predetermined yarn tension. Each yarn tension device (6) can be activated by means of an associated drive motor (20). Said creel (2) comprises a control device for controlling the yarn tension based on the angular speed or the yarn speed during a start-up and/or an interruption of the winding machine (3), as well as a regulator (25) for regulating the yarn tension during the normal stationary phase of the winding machine (3). The control device and the regulator (25) are designed such that the yarn tension or the output tension of each yarn can be maintained at a substantially constant level relative to a setpoint value.

Abstract: A web tension maintaining roll in a scroll sign module is arranged with its axis parallel to a rotatable second roll, both rolls being arranged for rotation between laterally spaced apart side frame members. For each roll, a short shaft projects from opposite side frame members toward each other for the roll to rotate about the common axis of the shafts. A motor driven drive shaft whose axis is transverse to the axes of rotation of the rolls has a worm fastened to the shaft adjacent each of the rolls. The worms are drivingly engaged, respectively, with worm wheels that are supported for rotation about the axis of the short shafts and about the rotational axis of the rolls. The worm wheel for the tension roll is coupled in driving relationship to the tension roll by way of a spiral spring whose inner end is connected to the worm wheel and whose outer end is connected to the tension roll.
