  • Patent number: 11820616
Abstract: A magazine unit for a packaging machine comprises a support device configured to rotatably carry a reel of a packaging material web and a reel brake device configured to decelerate rotation of the reel around a central axis. The reel brake device comprises a brake assembly adapted to interact with an outer lateral surface of the reel of the packaging material web and configured to selectively exert a deceleration force on the reel of the packaging material web for decelerating the rotation of the reel around the central axis. The reel brake device comprises a support rail moveably carrying the brake assembly and an actuator device configured to actuate, in use, movement of the brake assembly along the support rail at least towards the outer lateral surface so as to establish contact of at least an interaction element of the brake assembly with the outer lateral surface of the reel.

  • Patent number: 9221641
Abstract: A controller for a motor is configured to rotate a roll of material. The controller includes a drive speed regulator configured to generate an initial torque command based on a difference between a speed setpoint and a measured drive speed of the motor. The controller also includes an observer module configured to estimate a density error of the roll of material. The initial torque command is adjusted based on the density error to obtain a total torque command. The controller also includes a torque regulator configured to control the motor based on the total torque command.

  • Patent number: 8162250
Abstract: A number of closely notched slits 35 of a predetermined depth which have fine convex portions of the surface of each band sheet bitten thereinto and which are pulled to the convex portions and deformed to form cavities to generate negative pressure are provided at predetermined intervals over the entire peripheral length of the endless belt, over the entire width of the belt in a width direction to a longitudinal direction of the endless belt, on the outer surface 31a of the endless belt 3, touching each band sheet 4, which is constructed by laminating an outer surface layer 31 and an inner surface layer 33 using at least two-layer different materials.

  • Patent number: 7946014
Abstract: This invention is directed to an apparatus for attaching webbing to a furniture frame. The apparatus includes a frame, a mounting assembly, and a webbing attachment assembly. The mounting assembly includes a clamping mechanism and a rack. The clamping mechanism is coupled to a lower portion of the frame while the rack is coupled to an intermediate portion of the frame. The clamping mechanism and rack are adapted to receive at least one furniture frame and hold the furniture frame in place. The webbing attachment assembly is coupled to the frame and is adapted to position the webbing relative to the at least one furniture frame to enable the webbing to be attached to the furniture frame.

  • Patent number: 7780111
Abstract: A roll storage module comprises a storage roll (4) and a band roll (1). A band (3) extends between the storage and band rolls, the rolls being rotatable so that the band can be rolled around and unrolled from each roll. A storage roll motor (5) applies a rotational torque directly to the storage roll (4), a band roll motor (2) applies a rotational torque directly to the band roll (1). A control system (6) controls the motors (2,5) so as to cause the band (3) to roll on and unroll from the storage and band rolls (1,4) respectively in a determined manner. The control system includes a processor (6) for monitoring rotation of the band roll (1), and for calculating one or more parameters relating to the band (3) based on the monitored band roll rotation thereby to control the band and storage roll motors to rotate their respective rolls in the determined manner.

  • Patent number: 7458538
Abstract: The device comprises: supports (3A, 5A; 3B, 5B) to support at least a reel (B1) in an unwinding position; at least a peripheral drive mechanism which acts on the cylindrical surface of the reel being unwound and transmits peripherally to said reel a torque to draw it in rotation; and at least a center drive mechanism (41) which transmits centrally to said reel an auxiliary torque to draw it in rotation together with the torque transmitted by the peripheral drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7380743
Abstract: A module for supporting and driving a wound foil matter for a machine processing it. The module is entirely located outside that machine. The module comprises a bearing structure in which a plurality of reel stands are arranged. Each stand supports at least one reel. At least one drive device for the reels which are mounted freely rotatably on their respective reel stands. Each reel is repositionable on supports in the module and is also motor driven to rotate. At least one additional member for processing the foil matter.

  • Patent number: 7344104
Abstract: By designing a belt-driven unwind to have two distinct belt tension areas, the belt pressure against the unwinding roll can be decreased. The belt-driven unwind can have a higher belt tension section for proper belt tracking and to prevent slippage at the drive roller, and the belt driven unwind can have a lower belt tension section for the portion of the belt in contact with the unwinding roll. In this manner, the belt-driven unwind can be used with soft, bulky tissue rolls without damaging the rolls like a conventional belt-driven unwind.

  • Patent number: 6978961
Abstract: It is an object of this invention to eliminate the necessity of using pulleys which will bring about cost increase, trouble and reduction of service life, and give rise to the positional irregularity of the coil edge. Two sets of endless belts 1 are disposed one above the other, each set of endless belts being laterally arranged side by side. Pressure applying members 2 and 3 which hold each the endless belts 1 in a state that the endless belts freely circulate in an oval shape state, press the inner surfaces 1a of the endless belts 1, and are passed through the inner part of the endless belts 1. Each pressure applying member 2 (3) includes at least a belt pressing part 21 (31) which has a linear shaped side surface for directly pressing the inner surfaces 1a of the endless belts, and belt reversing parts 23 (33) being arcuate in cross section.
