Preventing Superposed Convolutions In Successively Wound Layers (i.e., Ribbon Breaker) Patents (Class 242/477.4)
  • Patent number: 10612171
Abstract: The invention relates to a bobbin carrier for receiving a bobbin which is set up for unwinding a strand material, wherein the bobbin carrier is provided for use in a braiding, winding or spiraling machine and is set up to rotate relative to the machine during operation of the latter. The bobbin carrier has a tensile-force measuring device for measuring the tensile force of the strand material unwound from the bobbin and has a first data transfer device for transferring data. According to the invention, the first data transfer device is set up to transfer measured tensile force values to a second data transfer device arranged outside the bobbin carrier. As a result, too low or too high tensile forces in the strand material can be detected early at the individual bobbin carriers.

Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a package in an optimal form obtained by winding a carbon fiber bundle having a fineness of 25,000 to 35,000 deniers, which has a high wound density and is less apt to become loose, and a method for producing the same. The present invention is a carbon fiber package obtained by winding a carbon fiber bundle having a fineness of 25,000 to 35,000 deniers on a bobbin in a square-end type, wherein the width per unit fineness of the carbon fiber bundle is in the range of 0.30×10?3 to 0.63×10?3 mm/denier, the traverse angle in the beginning of winding is in the range of 13 to 14°, the traverse angle in the end of winding is 3° or larger, and the fractional portion W0 of the winding ratio W is in the range of 0.07 to 0.08.

Abstract: A winch drum assembly has a barrel to receive a line, and a spooling device for guiding the line onto the barrel. The line is wound onto the barrel at a point that moves axially with respect to the barrel, and the orientation of the line on the barrel is adapted to change at least once per revolution of the barrel, so that radially adjacent layers of line are non-parallel. Spooling gear is described for guiding the line and the barrel can have ramps and walls to guide the line in the different directions. Non-parallel layers of line exhibit a reduced tendency to interfere with one another, so that the spooled line comes off the barrel more consistently.

  • Patent number: 6568623
Abstract: A moving strand is provided and a size is applied to the strand. A collet is rotated to wind the strand and build a package. The strand is reciprocated with a strand reciprocator to lay the strand at a wind angle on the package surface as the package rotates. A rotatable collet receives the strand to build a package. A strand reciprocator is mounted to guide the strand from edge to edge of the package and to lay the strand in a helical pattern on the package surface as the package rotates. The collet and the cam for the strand reciprocator are driven by motors. A collet inverter drive and a cam inverter drive control the rotational speed of the collet and cam, respectively. A controller is operatively connected to control the collet and cam inverter drives. A memory device such as a computer provides information to the controller of the waywind and wind angle as a function of package buildup time.

  • Patent number: 6425546
Abstract: Although many conventional ribbon winding preventing methods have substantially solved a ribbon winding problem in terms of the appearance of a package, there is still a large difference between a ribbon winding layer and the other layers in, for example, unwinding performance for fast unwinding during a postprocess. In a configuration for using a traverse groove 11 formed in a traverse drum 6 to traverse and wind a yarn into a package 3, the traverse drum 6 has a plurality of continuous traverse grooves 11 for different winding values formed therein. This configuration also has means 24 for switching a yarn path to determine which of the plurality of continuous traverse grooves 11 for different winding values used to traverse the yarn. Means for detecting a diameter at which ribbon winding may occur is also provided to effect such control that the winding number for the traverse drum 6 is changed when a package diameter is close to the ribbon winding diameter.

  • Patent number: 6405965
Abstract: In the winding of cheeses with a random pattern in a bobbin winding machine, a pattern disruption is performed during a passage through a pattern zone, and the actual diameter of the cheese (10) is determined by calculating the course of the increase of the cheese diameter to be expected and adding the expected increases in diameter occurring while winding through the pattern zones to the diameter of the cheese (10) calculated prior to reaching the pattern zone from the ratio of the number of revolutions of the cheese (10) and the winding drum (13) to the diameter of the winding drum (13).

  • Patent number: 6206320
Abstract: A method for operating a cheese-producing textile machine which produces cheeses of the “random winding” type, wherein the contact pressure of the cheese on the yarn guiding cylinder is reduced and the cheese is simultaneously charged with a braking torque for preventing pattern windings. The angular velocity w of the cheese (4) is continuously determined and processed in a control device (18) such that, when or shortly prior to reaching a so-called pattern winding zone (BWZ), the angular velocity w1 determined by the diameter d1 of the cheese (4) is reduced by means of the definite adjustment of the contact pressure with which the cheese (4) rests on the yarn guiding cylinder (3), to an angular velocity w2 which lies below the angular velocity wk of a cheese of the critical diameter dk, driven without slippage, which causes pattern winding.
