With Winding Of Flexible Cutter Patents (Class 242/526.2)
  • Patent number: 11459201
Abstract: An improved paper band delivery assembly for reliable high speed delivery of a turn-up paper band across a moving web of paper being wound onto a spool. The turn-up paper band is made ready for a turn up procedure by coiling a predetermined length of paper band suitable for a particular machine and retaining the coiled paper band in a reservoir pending deployment across a spool for a turn up procedure. The paper band may be coiled via manual operation or via automated operation. Coiling apparatus may be modularly replaced on a paper making machine. The coiled paper band may be supported within the reservoir on rollers, pins, or other items conducive to fast and reliable uncoiling.

  • Patent number: 7044417
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring material winding between spools. The apparatus includes spindels for positioning first and second spools in a co-planar arrangement with parallel axes of rotation. With the material initially secured to the base of a first spool with tape, a winding mechanism is energized to turn the spools. When the first spool is filled, a first sheave directs the incoming material to the second spool which is rotated at the rate of material supply. A tape applicator is then directed to apply a section of tape over the material, pressing it against the base of the second spool. A small wire is included on the base of the tape being applied. The applicator force on the wire against the material is designed to be sufficient to sever the material, separating the material on the first spool from the material being wound on the second.

  • Patent number: 6547178
Abstract: The turn-up system for this invention consists of two basic parts: 1. A kraft substrate flat paper tape having a layer of water-activated adhesive on one side and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive tape (PSAT) on the other side, which may or may not be protected by a releasable liner. The tape is approximately one to four inches in width. The tape is applied onto the outside of an empty reel spool (with or without a removable core) before the spool has been placed in the primary arms of the reel using the PSAT side to adhere the tape to the spool thus exposing the water-activated side of the tape to the ambient. The tape is to be applied in a single or multiple spiral pattern covering all or most of the length of the spool. After the application of the tape the reel spool should be loaded into the primary arms and moved into place as usual practice dictates. 2. Nozzles for supplying moisture to the tape wrapped reel spool before it is in the turn-up position (nip).
