Abstract: This application relates generally to battery removal apparatuses. For example, one battery removal apparatus disclosed herein comprises a pull tab configured to be disposed between a battery and a casing of a portable computing device. The pull tab is shaped such that at least one area of the battery and the casing are exposed to one another when the battery, the pull tab and the casing are compressed together. An adhesive layer is shaped to cover the at least one exposed area such that the battery adheres to the casing, and the pull tab is reinforced so as to prevent the pull tab from tearing when used to remove the battery from the portable computing device. Other battery removal apparatuses include a pull string battery removal apparatus as well as a battery removal apparatus that incorporates both a pull tab and one or more pull strings.

Abstract: A geotextile cutting apparatus having a lifting arm and cutting disk capable of cutting uniform width strips of geotextile material in the field. The uniform width strips of the geotextile material are then collected on a bobbin held and rotated by powered spindles on a variable width yoke of a collection apparatus, thus collecting the previously cut uniform width of geotextile material into compact rolls. Abstract: The machine includes a first winding roller and a concave plate extending around the first winding roller. The first winding roller and the concave plate define a feed channel of the web material. Upstream of the concave plate there is arranged a moving member including a pinching surface cooperating with the first winding roller to pinch the web material against the first winding roller. The moving member is arranged and controlled to pinch the web material against the surface of the first winding roller and decelerate the web material between the moving member and the surface of the first winding roller, causing a leading edge to wind around itself to form a winding nucleus of a log.

Abstract: Coreless tissue rolls can be produced without having to use an adhesive to form a hollow center. Instead, moisture can be used to promote light hydrogen bonding between the layers of the tissue web that line the hollow center. The hydrogen bonding provides sufficient structure to maintain the shape of the hollow center without rendering the tissue web surrounding the passageway unusable. Passageways can also be formed in accordance with the present disclosure that are substantially circular so that the rolls will easily spin on a spindle. In an alternative embodiment, moisture is not used in constructing the wound tissue roll.

Abstract: A web winding apparatus comprises a cutter, a web pressing member and a roller which are movable together between two bobbins supported respectively by two rotational center members. Each of the peripheral covers respectively having circumferential openings is turnable selectively to a first position to direct the circumferential opening toward the roller and a second position to partition the bobbin side covered thereby and the roller side.
Abstract: The web winding apparatus is characterized in that the two web pressing members are formed such that upon swinging, the two web pressing members move towards an empty one of the two bobbins positioned at one side of the two web pressing members which has been backed away from the cutter and upon swinging, the one of the two web pressing members which has approached the cutter presses an end portion of the web which is to be cut by the cutter on the empty bobbin thereby to wind the end portion of the web on the empty bobbin.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the production of a coreless roll (110?) including a sheet (110) of flexible, not moist, material such as a fibrous absorbent material, produced by winding of the sheet in one direction and rolling this sheet about a winding axis perpendicular to such direction, and including a central dispensing leader forming a projection along such axis relative to at least one part of the plane of one of the sides of the roll. The method is characterized in that the leader is produced by displacing a portion of the end of the sheet (110) before winding so that one of the longitudinal edges of the sheet forms an angle (?) other than zero relative to such direction of winding, after which winding of the sheet about the axis is initiated. By preference several sheets are produced by longitudinal cutting of a wide sheet. The solution may be applied for production in particular of general wipe rolls, hand towel rolls, or toilet paper rolls.

Abstract: A method for rewinding a web material is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: a) providing a conveyor belt having opposed first and second surfaces; b) providing a pressure assist device proximate to the second surface of the conveyor belt; c) disposing the web material on the first surface of the conveyor belt; d) providing at least one winding spindle having a speed profile proximate to the web material disposed upon the first surface of the conveyor belt; e) adjusting a position of at least one of the conveyor belt and the pressure assist device relative to the winding spindle to provide a compressive force to the surface of the winding spindle by the conveyor belt; f) adjusting a speed of the at least one winding spindle according to the speed profile; and, g) transferring the web material to the at least one winding spindle from the conveyor belt.

Abstract: A winder for winding continuous webs or interleaved web segments into rolls is disclosed. The winder has first and second rollers, a pressure assist device, a winding spindle, and a continuous belt having first and second surfaces. The belt is disposed about the first and second rollers. The web material is disposed upon at least a portion of the first surface of the belt. The winding spindle receives the web material when the spindle is proximate to the web material disposed upon the first surface of the belt. Abstract: The present invention relates to a measuring method, etc., comprising a structure for accurately measuring optical characteristics such as PMD of an optical fiber. The measuring method is a technique for measuring polarization characteristic distributions along the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber as a measuring object by using BOCDA, and by propagating probe light and pumping light opposite in the optical fiber, BGS is generated at a plurality of respective measurement positions. Then, based on Brillouin gain fluctuations at the respective measurement positions, polarization characteristic distributions are calculated.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a soft roll material-translating device for the mechanical apparatus of machining and cutting after severing. The existing pillow type of automatic packing machine can only pack produces using one single roll of film, so the work efficiency is low. Consequently, the present invention aims at improving the work efficiency and it adopts following technical solutions: the soft roll material-translating device includes a frame (1), a right rotating unit (3) with right folding rod pair (5) and a left rotating unit (2) with left folding rod pair (4) are mounted on the frame (1), the right rotating unit (3) and the left rotating unit (2) can both rotate around a rotating center. By adding a few of mechanisms, the work efficiency of the device can be multiplied one times.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided for preparing a cassette spool. Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleanly breaking a continuously advancing cellulose web includes a transfer fabric which supports and advances the cellulose web to a wind up zone. The transfer fabric forms a closed loop and is driven at a desired speed by a drive roll. At least two spray nozzles are arranged transversely across the advancing cellulose web as it is carried on the transfer fabric. The spray nozzles are capable of emitting a liquid under high pressure against the advancing cellulose web to form perforations across the width thereof. A plurality of hollow cores are independently and sequentially moved into position at the wind up zone to receive the advancing cellulose web. The hollow cores are located downstream of the spray nozzles and each hollow core is capable of accumulating a predetermined amount of the cellulose web.

Abstract: A paper web having a longitudinally extending zone coat of adhesive is continuously wound around the cylindrical surface of a rotating drum for a selected number of wraps to form a multi-layer cylindrical master stack. Web tension is controlled during winding to cause each succeeding wrap to be placed in relatively greater tension, so that when the completed cylindrical stack is cut transversely and unwrapped from the drum, equalization of the tensile stresses in the web wraps results in a flat master stack of rectangular sheets of equal length. The stack is further processed by cutting along transverse and longitudinal cut lines to form individual pads of adhesive-backed notes. Tension control may be based directly on the increase in drum radius resulting from the buildup of web wraps or by maintenance of print pattern register between continuous equally spaced print patterns in overlying wraps.
