  • Patent number: 9016612
Abstract: A system and process is described for producing spirally wound products. According to the process of the present disclosure, two or more webs are conveyed together in a superimposed relationship. The webs are then separated such that one web goes to a first winding module while a second web goes to a second winding module, etc. In this manner, at least two spirally wound products can be produced simultaneously. The process and system of the present disclosure are particularly well suited for processing tissue webs, such as paper towels and bath tissue. The process of the present disclosure can effectively at least double throughput on existing winding systems.

  • Patent number: 7497402
Abstract: The invention is particularly directed to the problem of creep deformation in a coiled aluminum strip, which occurs during coiling and for a period thereafter. The problem arises because the profile of the strip across its width is not flat, and is in fact usually thicker in the middle than at the edges (positive crown). To compensate for this, the invention provides that the spool onto which the coil is wound is adapted to provide more support to the strip in the center than at the edges, by making the central portion of the spool of a greater diameter than the end portions of the spool. A strip having a positive crown which is wound onto such a spool was found to exhibit significantly reduced creep strain, leading to reduced creep deformation.

The clamp means (34) is a straight, rod-shaped element connected to the crank shaft (24) through a lateral crank arm (32) outside the inner cavity (12′) of the coil (12). A starting portion of a fire hose, e.g. a loop-shaped portion (42) at the center of a double-laid fire hose (40), can be placed around such a clamp means (34), whereupon the hose is wound up.
