Patent number: 11998966Abstract: A method for mitigating the effects of coil collapse on hot strip mill coils. A hot strip coil is removed from the mandrel/downcoiler and pre-sagged to create an initial sag by allowing gravity cause the coil to sag in a first specific direction for a first period of time. Then, without coil eye support to limit sagging, the direction of the sag caused by the force of gravity is modified to a direction perpendicular to the first specific direction and gravity is allowed to sag said coil for a second period of time. The first period of time and the second period of time are chosen such that the initial sag created during the first period of time is substantially mitigated by the perpendicular sag during the second period of time. The hot strip coil being cooled enough by the end of the second period of time such that the rate of sagging of the hot strip coil has become negligible.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2019Date of Patent: June 4, 2024Assignee: ArcelorMittalInventor: Yuefa Xiao

Patent number: 6938850Abstract: To obtain a storing method for an elongated plastic deformation member in which the elongated plastic deformation member and a liner are overlapped and wound around a reel for storing the elongated plastic deformation member, whereby partial deformation or deformation nonuniformity of the elongated plastic deformation member can be suppressed. In the present invention, when a liner and an unvulcanized tread member are wound on a reel 72 and stored, the reel 72 is supported by a driven roll 40 and a driving roll 30. The reel 72 is intermittently rotated by alternately repeating normal rotation and inverse rotation, and rotational angles of the reel 72 are caused to be different before and after rotation of the reel 72 is stopped, whereby, during storing, a load due to the tread member itself can be imparted more uniformly to the entire circumference of the wound tread member.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2002Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventor: Nobuyoshi Shimazaki

Patent number: 6412730Abstract: A device and a method for storing an elongated plastically deformable member are provided in which, even if an elongated plastically deformable member and a liner are stored in a state of being superposed together and wound on a take-up reel, deformation of portions of the elongated plastically deformable member and non-uniformity of deformation of the elongated plastically deformable member can be suppressed. When a liner and an unvulcanized tread member are taken-up on and stored on a reel, the reel is supported by a driven roller and a drive roller, and the reel is stored in a state of being rotated constantly. As a result, during storage, a load caused by the wound tread member itself is applied uniformly to an entire wound circumference. Therefore, collapsing deformation caused thereby is made uniform along a longitudinal direction, and differences in a configuration of the tread member at respective wound layers do not arise.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2000Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Assignee: Bridgestone CorporationInventor: Nobuyoshi Shimazaki
