    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for coating a flexible substrate are provided. The flexible substrate is guided over a process roller. The flexible substrate has a first protective film, which is removed from the flexible substrate before the flexible substrate reaches a coating zone of a coating device located opposite the process roller. The first protective film is removed from the flexible substrate after the flexible substrate has formed a mechanical contact with the surface of the process roller. A second protective film is applied to the coated side of the flexible substrate after the flexible substrate has left the coating zone of the coating device and before the mechanical contact between the process roller and the flexible substrate is ended.

    Abstract: A web material winding machine includes a core tube storage tank, a guiding unit, a transmission means, a web material feeding assembly, a gripping assembly and a second gluing mechanism. A glued core tube is conveyed from the guiding unit to the transmission means and the web material is fed to the transmission means. The transmission means pushes the core tube to move to the gripping assembly and the web material is stuck to the core tube. The web material winds around the working core tube and when the winding is nearly completed, a new core tube is conveyed to the transporting passage and interferes with the feeding speed of the web material, causing the web material to tear along a line of perforations. A tail glue is applied to the web material of the web-wound roll by the second gluing mechanism and a web-wound roll is produced.

The reel-up can include a calendering belt for calendering the web as it passes through a nip between the belt and a reel drum supported on the belt, and a rotatable reel spool on which a paper roll is wound in nipping engagement with the reel drum. Alternatively, the reel drum can be eliminated and the paper roll can be supported on the belt. A composite shaftless core for winding is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A web material winding machine includes a core tube storage tank, a guiding unit, a transmission means, a web material feeding assembly, a gripping assembly and a second gluing mechanism. A core tube is glued with initial glue and conveyed from the guiding unit to the transmission means. Meanwhile, the web material is fed by the web material feeding assembly to the transmission means at a normal speed. The transmission means pushes the core tube to move through a transporting passage to the gripping assembly and the web material is stuck to the core tube. The web material winds around the core tube at the winding region. When the winding is nearly completed, a new core tube is conveyed to the transporting passage and interferes the speeding of web material, causing the web material to tear along the perforation line. A tail glue is applied to the completed core tube by the second gluing mechanism and a roll is produced.

    Abstract: A reel-up in a paper machine has two primary arms, each of which has an elongate beam that is pivotably journalled on stand members in the reel-up, and a carriage that is displaceably journalled on the beam and has a gripper on its side that faces the surface winding drum for gripping a reeling drum collected from a top drum stock. Each beam has a free end located at a lesser distance from the pivot axis of the primary arm than the distance between the pivot axis and the empty reeling drum located in the drum stock. Each carriage can be displaced outwards from the beam so that the gripper is beyond the free end of the beam at a distance from the free end so as to assume a position for receipt of a reeling drum.

In this manner, one of control and regulation of a linear force in the winding nip occurs through the displacement of the reel drum.
