  • Patent number: 9302510
Abstract: A medium loading device includes a support unit having shaft members mounted on both end portions of a roll paper and flange member and a loading portion where the roll paper with the support unit is loaded. The loading portion includes a rotary driving portion as a driving source to rotate the roll paper, a rotation shaft to transmit torque of the rotary driving portion to the roll paper via the shaft member, and an operation portion that moves the rotation shaft between a transmission position to transmit the torque to the roll paper and a non-transmission position not to transmit the torque to the roll paper. In an axial direction of the roll paper when the roll paper is loaded into the loading portion, the operation portion is disposed between the position where the shaft member is located when the roll paper is loaded and the rotary driving portion.

  • Patent number: 7854408
Abstract: A carousel coiler with two coilers, which are mounted in a rotatable rotor, are rotatably driven independently of each other, are intended for the successive, continuous winding of metal strip and each have spray heads, which comprise a number of segments that can be moved in a spreading manner, are supported on axially displaceable wedge-shaped directing surfaces and on which the coilers can be cyclically moved in each case from a starting position into a strip-coil transfer position by turning of the rotor, is to be developed in such a way that a pivot-into-place outside bearing becomes superfluous, that the coil or the coil to be wound is always supported on both sides in every position, and that the carousel coiler can be used both for winding up and unwinding coils.

  • Patent number: 6585185
Abstract: A multiple output reel module includes a reel wheel supporting a plurality of spindles. Mounted to each spindle is a reel. The reel wheel is rotatable to position one of the spindle and reel combinations in a loading position in which output media from a nearby machine is interconnected to the reel. The spindle and reel are rotated to load the reel with output media. A CPU monitors the status of the reel, and stops the loading when the reel is full. The CPU then rotates the reel wheel to position a second spindle and reel combination in the loading position. The output media is automatically positioned over a portion of the second reel, and the output media is automatically interconnected to the second reel with an over-center finger assembly. Then the output media between the two reels is cut and the second reel is loaded with output media.

  • Patent number: 6186436
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding film includes haul-in rolls, a spindle, an airhorn, a kick-roll, and a belt or ropes to convey the film. A source of air creates an air curtain downstream of the spindle. The air curtain directs the leading edge of the film into the airhorn and over the spindle. A film guide located upstream of the airhorn guides a leading edge of the film back into its own nip. An air guide located between the film guide and the conveyor leading to the spindle prevents air from going back upstream of the airhorn. The guides are comprised of a non-stick material. Holes near the edge of guide allow air to exit the air horn, without perturbing the film where it tucks into its own nip. A static pinner may pin the leading edge of the film to the spindle. The spindle may have a winding surface tapered by less 0.03 inches per foot. The spindle has an air inlet, and outlet holes. The inlet area is greater than the hole area, by up to a 7:1 ratio.
