  • Patent number: 5114022
Abstract: Modular shelving for window displays comprises angled beams, at 45 degrees to the horizontal, and small horizontal shelves set on the beams. The shelves are to hold individual plants or the like. The beam ends are cut at 45 degrees, the cuts either parallel or at right angles to each other on a beam. The ends are adapted to be joined by dowels at either right or straight angles. Thus the beams may be combined in various plane configurations to form a diamond shape, W-shape, X-shape, zig-zag, and so on; the plants or items may then be arranged upon the small shelves on the beams in similar figures for window display. The weight of the structures is borne by support poles with feet. The support poles are of two lengths, the shorter being half the length of the longer; the shorter poles have a length equal to one half of the beam length, divided by the square root of two. The longer are double that length.

The linkages are dimensioned and provided with a drive for progressively lowering the skid whereby the flatrack container rests on the skids when so desired. Locks are provided whereby the linkages may be locked at one of several altitudes. The drive also returns the skid to its folded position in confronting relationship with the underside of the flatrack container and the latter rests on two beams spaced from a longitudinal centerline of the flatrack container. The drive is generally disposed to drive the respective linkages of both skids simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4905945
Abstract: A unitary, molded, concrete stabilizing base for refuse cans and the like, and method and apparatus for its manufacture are described. The base takes the form of a concrete annulus having a right-triangular cross section and an inner diameter dimensioned freely to receive a frusto-conical refuse can having a base diameter within a range of predetermined diameters. The inner cylindrical surface and the outer frusto-conical surface of the toroid smoothly are joined in a substantially rounded way. In use, and in the presence of lateral forces incident upon the installed refuse can, e.g. crosswinds, the base and the can cooperate by the impingement of their inner and outer surfaces to resist the tendency of the refuse can to tip and spill its contents. In a modification, the effective height of the base is increased by stacking the base atop a concrete annular platform of substantially equal diameters, thereby increasing further the range of refuse can base diameters that securely can be accommodated.

  • Patent number: 4899884
Abstract: Cornet piles are placed in a support groove in a block member of a stiff lightweight material, with the block member having upstanding portions capable of supporting an overlying packing to thereby protect the cornet pile. The bottom of the block member is provided through holes, which serve as ventilation holes for cooling of the hot waffle cornets received from a baking machine and also as carrier holes for supporting cornets in uprights serving positions when the block member is turned upside-down into an inverted position in which it stands on the top ends of the formerly upstanding parts.

  • Patent number: 4854468
Abstract: A device for stabilizing and supporting a large cup whose base diameter exceeds the smaller diameter of a support receptacle such as is typically provided in a moving vehicle. The device includes a tubular support base having a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of a standard can or cup receptacle and having an axial length of at least approximately 1/2 inch. A support plate is coupled at one side to a top rim of the tubular support base, the remaining side of the support plate being attached to a base rim of a truncated support cone having a diameter greater in size than the tubular diameter and being adapted in configuration for receiving the container or cup therein. A cantilevered configuration of the adaptor device imposes retention forces which increase with the increased weight contained in the supported cup.

  • Patent number: 4836476
Abstract: The decanting basket (1) comprises a holding bracket (6) adapted to hold an electrical battery (7), and an electrical source of light, namely an incandescent lamp (4). The latter is connected with the battery holding bracket (6) by way of a cable (5). The cable comprises an off-switch so positioned on the underside of the basket, to keep the circuit interrupted while the basket rests on a support surface, and to close the circuit as soon as the basket is lifted off its support surface, to have the incandescent lamp (4) transilluminate the neck of the bottle while the wine is poured out therefrom. This makes it simple to decant clear, clean wine, and to stop decanting as soon as a deposit appears in the neck.
