Abstract: Generally, a liquid holding device with a releasable suction base is a mug or other container operable to hold a substance or device with an integral means for creating a secure suction force with a surface. More specifically, a component of the liquid holding device is not only operable to create a suction force, but the application of the suction force provides a means for stabilizing the device. Advantageously, once the liquid holding device is adhered to a surface via the suction mechanism component, the risk of accidental tipping of the device is greatly reduced. Further, an aspect of the present invention is a mechanism for the convenient creation and release of the stabilizing suction force. In some embodiments, the suction creation and release mechanism can be operated with a single hand.

Abstract: An attachable pedestal that can be attached to the underside of a plate, serving platter, bowl, serving dish, or the like. The attachable pedestal includes a pedestal with a base that can rest on a surface, and a suction cup that can be attached to an object thereby adjoining it with the pedestal. To facilitate the attachment and retention of the pedestal to the object, a support structure is provided under the suction cup. The support structure is biased towards the suction cup such that when a downward positive force is applied to the suction cup by pressing down on the object, the support structure applies an upward positive pressure. In cooperation, the downward pressure against the suction cup and the upward pressure against the suction cup operate to evacuate air from the cavity of the suction cup. The support structure also provides under support to stabilize the attached object.

Abstract: A vacuum suction device is provided for temporary fixing on a substantially smooth, air-impermeable fixing area, including a supporting cup (3) and a flexible suction plate (4) as well as an actuating mechanism for creating a partial vacuum between the suction plate and the fixing area while dislocating the suction plate at least in parts thereof, wherein a vacuum indication device (15) for indicating the partial vacuum is provided. To provide a constructionally simple indication device by which a decrease in partial vacuum can be easily and reliably detected even by a non-trained individual and even under different environmental conditions, the vacuum indication device is provided with an indicating element (16), which is mechanically coupled to the suction plate. By the indicating element (16), a change in partial vacuum can be optically and/or haptically detected and indicated. The indication device can be integrated in the actuating element.

Abstract: Methods and devices for adhering and securing a tether to a surface are provided. A suction device comprises a base having a top portion and a bottom cavity, a lever, and a flexible suction skirt. The lever has a bottom end, a cam element pivotally coupled to the lever's bottom end and traversing the base's top portion, and at least one cleat along a side of the lever for capturing a tether. The skirt is disposed within the base's bottom cavity and is coupled to the lever's cam element. Closing the lever from a vertical to a horizontal orientation relative to the base causes the cam element to pull the flexible suction skirt to deform the flexible suction skirt, applying suction on the surface and simultaneously moving the cleat horizontally with respect to the base to cinch the captured tether.
