  • Patent number: 7013927
Abstract: A protective sleeve system for use by plumbers during installation of riser pipes in buildings, surrounds a pipe and maintains a space around the pipe. A sleeve surrounds the pipe such that a space is defined between the pipe and the sleeve and a plurality of spacers disposed between the sleeve and the pipe, maintain the space between the pipe and the sleeve. The plurality of spacers are separate from the sleeve. An annular cover ring covers the annular space. In use, the protective sleeve system is installed prior to pouring the concrete floor. After pouring and setting of the concrete floor, the cover ring is removed, followed by the removal of the spacers. The sleeve is then cut to floor level and the pipe riser is cut down to a suitable level.

  • Patent number: 6835343
Abstract: A method and apparatus for handling large concrete retaining wall blocks and the like. The blocks are cast in a form with the front face down, a lifting loop extending from a rear face and with grooves extending in sides from a rear face to adjacent the front face. A spear hook is secured to one of two fork lift tines to extend to one side of the tine away from the other tine. The spear hook engages the lifting loop on the block for lifting the block from the form and for rolling the block into an upright position. The fork lift tines then engage the side grooves from the rear of the block for lifting and moving the blocks and for stacking the blocks to construct a retaining wall.

  • Patent number: 6808154
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a member, such as a column. The invention comprises inner and outer molds that are spaced apart forming a cavity for receiving a viscous material for making the member. A core is inserted within the inner area of inner mold when the viscous material is initially disposed within the mold. Once the material attains a gelled state, an extraction member is inserted within the inner area. A vacuum is applied to the inner area that causes the flexible inner mold to separate from the material and conform to the extraction member allowing for removal.

Abstract: A panel-forming system including a plurality of bulkheads and one or more extensions. A first group of the bulkheads are used to define the overall dimensions and shape of the panel, while a second group are used to define at least one aperture formed into the panel. The aperture extensions are configured to allow various-shaped recesses to be formed in the panels adjacent the apertures, and are made up of a bulkhead-engaging portion and a separate recess portion that extends from and cooperates with the bulkhead-engaging portion. The surfaces of each bulkhead-engaging portion include a plurality of chamfers to create complementary surfaces in the panel being formed. In accordance with 37 CFR 1.72(b), the purpose of this abstract is to enable the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and gist of the technical disclosure.

Abstract: A mold for forming an ice ring on the inner surface of a bottle. The mold is in the form of a cylinder. One end of the mold carries a seal sized to form a fluid tight seal with the inner surface of the bottle neck. The mold is preferably hollow and has a handle attached to the end near the seal. The mold is inserted through the bottle neck until the seal forms a fluid tight seal with the bottle neck. Water is then poured into the bottle through the handle. The bottle is inverted and excess water allowed to flow out through the mold. The bottle is then set on the handle in a freezer until the water freezes. The mold is then removed. The bottle may then be filled with a selected drink through the ice ring.

Abstract: An impression mold includes a main body and a detachable segment. The main body has an obverse bearing a first intaglioed pattern, and is formed with an opening defined in the obverse thereof. The segment has an obverse bearing a second intaglioed pattern and has a shape complementary to the opening of the main body. Therefore, a complete pattern is formed by the two intaglioed patterns when the segment is fitted in the opening of the main body.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for casting a gasket into a cast member utilizing a one-piece mandrel assembly provided within a mold assembly. The resilient, compressible gasket is mounted upon the mandrel assembly during the casting operation. The mandrel assembly is withdrawn from the cast member after it has cured. The mandrel assembly may also be utilized to form a knockout barrier a pipe stop and a mounting fixture for mounting a baffle to the interior wall of the cast member through a snap on fastening arrangement. The mandrel assembly is preferably designed to facilitate stripping of the mandrel assembly from the cast member after the cast member is cured.

  • Patent number: 6561478
Abstract: The present invention relates to a seal pin indexed precisely in a resin transfer molding die to assure the desired resin-to-fiber ratio in the mold part, and, thereby, to produce reliably and consistently a part of minimum weight with adequate strength. The index/resin seal pin of the present invention for RTM mold dies is novel in that it provides the seal (via replaceable O-rings) on the threaded stem of the pin to prevent low viscosity resin from invading the threads, bolts pins, or other elements of the internal mandrel. The pin allows the entire inner mandrel to be enclosed and sealed within the mold cavity, simplifying the sealing system. The invention also relates to a method for using the seal pin in a resin transfer molding process.
