Abstract: The invention relates to a slide valve, especially for controlling a flow of catalyst or like high-temperature media, having a pipe portion (10) and, arranged therein, a restrictor (11) which has an inlet opening and an outlet opening (12a, 12b) through which flow takes place during operation, and having a slide plate (13) which co-operates with the outlet opening (12b) to control the flow of catalyst and which is movable into an open position and a closed position I, II, the slide plate (13) being mounted so as to be displaceable by means of guide elements (14, 15) arranged on the pipe and on the plate, which guide elements are in engagement with one another. The invention is distinguished by the fact that the pipe-associated guide elements (14) are arranged before the outlet opening (12b) in the direction of flow.

Abstract: A rotating valve apparatus includes a cylindrical casing; a shaft arranged symmetrically in the casing; a member fixedly attached to the shaft and in close fit with the cylindrical casing, defining separated chambers within the casing; at least one outlet fixedly arranged along the circumference of the casing; and a plurality of axially arranged inlets, each of which being constantly in fluid communication with a respective one of the separated chambers, wherein the axially arranged inlets are alternately in fluid connection with the outlet fixedly arranged along the circumference of the casing in response to rotation of the shaft and the member with respect to the casing. The outlet(s) has/have a fluid path length that varies along the circumference of the casing depending on the rotational speed of the shaft such that the interfaces between fluids originating from different ones of the axially arranged inlets will be essentially vertical to the flow direction of the fluids.

Abstract: The invention relates to an actuator (10) for controlling a fluid flow which comprises a valve housing (11), a flow restrictor (18) and a valve seat (16), in which the flow restrictor (18) is designed such that the flow restrictor (18)—together with a closure (22) which is connected to the valve housing (12)—will form a pressure-relieving chamber (28), and as a result, a relative movement of the flow restrictor (18) and the chamber closure (22) together with the actuation will cause the volume of the pressure-relieving chamber (28) to change as a function of the direction of movement, and the flow restrictor (18) has a recess (24) which will allow the fluid to be controlled to flow into the pressure-relieving chamber (28).

  • Patent number: 8122908
Abstract: A three-way valve body comprises a throat defining a generally cylindrical throat cavity. At least one flow diverter is carried by the valve body and extends into the throat cavity. The flow diverter advantageously interrupts any circulatory fluid flow within the throat cavity, thereby increasing the efficiency at which fluid flows through the valve body. In one embodiment, the at least one flow diverter can comprise one or more ribs integrally formed with the valve body and disposed parallel to a central axis of the throat cavity.

Abstract: Apparatuses to control a fluid flow characteristic of fluid regulator bypass valves are described. An example apparatus includes an insert having a body sized to be inserted in a passage of a bypass valve. The body includes an opening to fluidly couple a bore of the body to an outer surface of the body. The opening being shaped to produce a predetermined flow characteristic in response to at least a portion of a restrictor of the bypass valve moving relative to the opening to vary a fluid flow through the opening and the bypass valve.

Abstract: A valve assembly for regulating the flow of fluid between a working chamber of a fluid-working machine and a fluid manifold. The valve assembly comprising a valve body comprising a valve seat, a fluid passage extending through the valve body, and a travelling member comprising a valve member and operable between an open position in which the valve member is spaced apart from the valve seat and fluid can flow through the fluid passage and a closed position in which the valve member is in sealing contact with the valve seat preventing fluid from flowing through the fluid passage. The valve assembly further defines a fluid flow path passing in a first fluid flow mode, between the valve member and the valve seat, and into the fluid passage. The valve assembly is characterised by a barrier upstream of the valve member, to the barrier reduces one or more forces which would otherwise act on the valve member as a result of the flow of fluid to urge the valve member towards the valve seat.
