  • Patent number: 10939919
Abstract: A hemostatic device has a band for being wrapped around a puncture site P of a wrist W, securing means for securing the band in a state where the band is wrapped around the wrist, an inflation portion that interlocks with the band, and that is inflated by injecting gas, and an injection portion that can inject gas into the inflation portion. The injection portion is disposed in the band, and is foldable so as to decrease a space formed inside the injection portion. The hemostatic device can thus inflate an inflation portion without using a separate dedicated instrument, which can prevent a hemostasis-requiring site from being unintentionally compressed more than necessary.

  • Patent number: 9680170
Abstract: A gas generator includes a reactant capable of producing a gas and a gas outlet valve that can function as both a gas flow valve and a pressure relief vent, using the same gas flow path through the valve. When the valve is closed and the pressure within the gas generator is below a threshold pressure, a moveable valve member is biased against a valve seat to block the outlet port. When gas generator is coupled to the apparatus, an actuator is inserted into the valve, displacing the moveable valve member and separating it from the valve seat to open the valve. Abstract: The invention is directed to a valve system comprising of moving parts therein. The valve system is designed to be resistant to the effects of low temperatures which otherwise tend to compromise the correct operation of the moving parts of the valve system. The inventor has cleverly got around this problem by designing a valve in which the moving parts thereof are positioned inside the contents of a tank. The contents of the tank ensure that the moving parts are less vulnerable to fluctuations in temperature outside the tank. Consequently, the invention provides reliable valve operation during freezing weather.

  • Patent number: 8356616
Abstract: Some water drain valves tend to fill with water which may freeze, thereby jamming the valve. This invention provides an aircraft water drain valve comprising a passageway, a shaft, a first sealing member and a second sealing member. The shaft is moveable between an open position in which the first and second sealing members are arranged to allow free passage of fluid through the passageway, and a closed position in which both the first and second sealing members are arranged to prevent free passage of fluid through the passageway thereby preventing ingress of fluid into the region between the first and second sealing members. Thus water may be hindered from collecting and freezing in the part of the valve close to the cold wall of the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 8312889
Abstract: A combination flow control and reverse flow check valve provides a compact valve unit for controlling the flow of fluid in a downstream direction and limiting undesired backflow of liquid into a source such as a reservoir. The flow control and reverse flow check valve may be provided as a unitary member having a housing with an upstream end configured for mounting to the liquid source, a fluid conveying channel within the housing, and a check element positioned in the channel between the flow control valve, such as a ball valve, and a seat which is complementally configured with the check element to normally seal against backflow. A blocking element may be provided to prevent interference of the check element with the operation of the flow control valve while permitting liquid to flow in an intended downstream direction.

Abstract: A fuel can adapter has a threaded section for threadly engaging with a fuel device. Particularly, the fuel device has a threaded joint for engagement with the thread section of the fuel can adapter. In addition, this threaded joint can be used to connect a fuel can with a thread head, such that fuel in the fuel can can flow to the fuel device. With the fuel can adapter, a fuel can with a head, which does not have a threaded head but has a flange extending circumferentially thereon, is adapted to connect to the fuel device, such that fuel in the fuel can can flow to the fuel device.

  • Patent number: 8191569
Abstract: A valve assembly uses an O ring contained within a void such that the outer edges of the valve assembly reach the outer mid section of the O ring. A kettle for brewing beer or heating other fluid is drilled so as to accommodate the disclosed valve. The O ring is pressed and held against the outside surface of the kettle wall. A retaining nut placed within the kettle further secures the valve to the kettle. As the surface of the kettle heats during use, the contained O ring retains sufficient contact with the valve and kettle so as to prevent leakage.

  • Patent number: 8171954
Abstract: A pressure-relief valve assembly is improved in that sealing surfaces on both the valve seat and valve head are confrontationally disposed annular planar surfaces oriented substantially perpendicular to the valve axis. A resilient valve seal is formed of a material which deforms to a predetermined extent into sealing engagement against both sealing surfaces when compressed by the spring biasing force. When a vacuum exists the combination of the spring force and a holding force created by a pressure differential acts to increase the extent of compression between the resilient valve seal and both sealing surfaces sufficient to create a vacuum-tight seal. The magnitude of the spring biasing force in discrete increments may be adjusted by varying the degree of threaded engagement between members forming the valve housing.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a fuel cell supply for a fuel cell having an outer casing, a liner member containing methanol, and a valve component comprising a valve body member and a slidable body member disposed inside the valve body member. The slidable body member is normally biased toward a valve seat surface to seal the valve component and the slidable body member can be moved away from the valve seat surface to open the valve component. The liner member, the valve body member and the slidable body member are made from at least two different materials and wherein at least one of the members compatible with methanol. Hence, each component can be selected from material(s) that is substantially optimal for its function in the fuel supply.

Abstract: A controlled pressure release valve controls the gas flow in high-pressure systems. The valve includes a valve body, a slidable spool, a primary flow passage, a first and second chamber, a first and second spring, a first and second passages, and a valve actuator. The valve body has a gas inlet and a gas outlet and houses the slidable spool. The slidable spool has a first end and a second end, and is slidable between a first position and a second position. The primary flow passage connects the gas inlet and the gas outlet and increases with lineal movement of the slidable spool. The first chamber is located adjacent the first end of the slidable spool and a second chamber is located adjacent the second end of the slidable spool. The sliding spool is biased toward the first position by a gas pressure applied by the second chamber and the second spring.
