  • Patent number: 8820351
Abstract: A connector for use in a negative pressure coolant system is disclosed. The connector connects coolant system circulating to an electrical component thereby allowing the coolant to circulate through the electrical component. The connector is made up of two components, a component side connector and a pump side connector, and can be in three positions: disengaged, semi-engaged and fully-engaged. An electrical component can be drained of its coolant while the connector is shifted from the fully-engaged position, to the semi-engaged position and to the disengaged position. This can be accomplished without shutting down the negative pressure coolant system, thus allowing a particular electrical component to be disconnected without affecting the cooling efficiency of other electrical components connected to the system. Because the coolant is drained, it will not spill on the electrical component and cause damage.

  • Patent number: 8272411
Abstract: A lyophilization device configured for use in a lyophilization process has a body defining a chamber for receiving a liquid to be lyophilized, and a stopper creating a liquid-tight seal between the chamber and ambient atmosphere to form a sealed, empty sterile chamber. The stopper is adapted so that the chamber may be sterile filled with the substance through the stopper. A fluid passageway is formed through the stopper, through which the chamber is evacuated. The substance is lyophilized, the fluid passageway is closed, and the lyophilized substance is hermetically sealed within the chamber.

  • Patent number: 8186649
Abstract: A pipe coupling capable of being safely connected and disconnected. The pipe coupling has a tubular housing (16), a first locking member (18), a pressing member (24), a valve member (30), and a second locking member (50) provided between the valve member (30) and the pressing member (24). When the housing is communicated with a fluid source with the pressing member (24) placed in a standby position (FIGS. 1 to 4), the second locking member is displaced by the valve member, which is displaced toward an open position by fluid pressure. In this process, the second locking member engages with the pressing member (24) before the valve member reaches the open position (FIG. 2), thereby preventing the valve member from reaching the open position and, at the same time, preventing the pressing member from being displaced to a pressing position. When the housing is communicated with the fluid source with the pressing member (24) placed in the pressing position (FIG.

  • Patent number: 8056581
Abstract: Improved latching connectors that can be used to connect a fluid system, such as manufacturing, test, or processing equipment, to an external system, for example charging, evacuation and/or testing equipment. In one embodiment, the connector includes elements by which to protect connector seals from being exposed to fluid being transferred, thereby lengthening the lifetime and reliability of the connector. In another embodiment, the male connector portion and the female connector portion are both valved in a normally closed position. The connector is designed to achieve connection of the male portion to the female portion, and sealing between the male portion and the female portion, prior to the valves in each connector portion being opened and fluid flowing through the connector. The latching connector includes a pressure locking sleeve that, once the connector is under pressure, locks the connector to prevent accidental disconnection.

  • Patent number: 8048039
Abstract: A surgical fluid transfer apparatus for passage of fluids includes a hub defining a longitudinal axis and having an internal chamber, an elongated member extending from the hub and a closure valve disposed within the internal chamber. The closure valve is adapted for movement between a first position substantially sealing the internal chamber to prevent passage of fluids and a second position establishing a fluid passage within the hub to permit passage of fluids therethrough. The closure valve includes a valve housing and a seal member. The seal member has an open condition establishing an internal passage different than the fluid passage to permit passage of an access instrument through the closure valve and a closed condition in the absence of the access instrument. The inner wall portions of the valve housing cooperate with the seal member to permit the seal member to assume the closed condition thereof.

  • Patent number: 8047229
Abstract: A shut-off valve or connecting valve capable of connecting a fuel supply to a fuel cell is disclosed. The valve comprises a first valve component and a second valve component. Each valve component has an outer housing and a biased slidable member disposed inside the housing forming an internal seal. During the connection process, the two valve components establish an inter-component seal. Afterward, in one suitable embodiment the slidable member moves inward and opens the internal seal in the valve component to establish a flow path. In another embodiment, the slidable member moves inward and exposes a first filler and the first filler abuts a second filler in the other valve component to establish a flow path. In other embodiments, at least one valve component is sized and dimensioned to limit access to the internal seal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a vacuum means for storage bags which comprises an air exhaustion opening and an air exhaustion valve, both of which are disposed on an outer surface of the storage bag; the air exhaustion opening and the air exhaustion valve are interconnected; the air exhaustion valve comprises two or more layers of soft sealing plates, and the layers of soft sealing plates overlap with one another and their edges are connected with the storage bag in a sealed manner; ventilation openings separated from one another are opened on each of the two or more layers of soft sealing plates, and each of the two or more layers of soft sealing plates are interconnected with the air exhaustion opening at areas where the ventilating openings are opened. The air exhaustion valve of the present invention mainly attains sealing effect by adhering the soft sealing plates with one another. As the soft sealing plates are softer and more resilient, it is easier for them to resume their original shapes.
