  • Patent number: 9956581
Abstract: A mask according to the invention includes a masking having a first side, a second side, and a perimeter opening. The second side is either tacky or has an adhesive applied and includes a backing, and the first side may include a cover. In use, the backing is removed to apply the mask to a hatch on a surface, with the perimeter of the hatch exposed through the perimeter opening. If used, the cover is then removed and liquid sealant is applied to the perimeter through the perimeter opening. Excess sealant collects on the masking rather than on the hatch or surface surrounding the perimeter. Once the sealant dries, the masking is removed.

  • Patent number: 8201804
Abstract: The apparatus for uninterrupted flushing a well bore being drilled with a jointed drill string comprises a continuous flushing valve (CFV) and a connector for temporarily attaching a bypass line to the valve. The CFV is a ball-type three way valve in a housing adapted for including in the drill string. Inside the housing there are two axial and two side sealing seats which provide for flow only through designated paths. The plug is prevented from loosening by a spring. An operating stem is mounted to operate the valve by a wrench from outside the housing. A connector facilitates fast tying a hose of a bypass line to the side port. A securing mechanism keeps a valve ball in full open position while a CFV is in the well.

  • Patent number: 6520481
Abstract: The current invention is a linearly regulated gas valve for a gas burner, utilizing a central plug to control the gas flow. This valve has the capability of providing a smoothly increasing or decreasing gaseous flow between the highest setting and the lowest setting, allowing the user a wide choice of settings for any particular food that is being prepared on the gas burner. This invention also does not require an additional jet to operate at the low setting.

  • Publication number: 20020076528
Abstract: Glass coatings on metals including Ti, Ti6A14V and CrCo were prepared for use as implants. The composition of the glasses was tailored to match the thermal expansion of the substrate metal. By controlling the firing atmosphere, time, and temperature, it was possible to control the reactivity between the glass and the alloy and to fabricate coatings (25-150 &mgr;m thick) with excellent adhesion to the substrate. The optimum firing temperatures ranged between 800 and 840° C. at times up to 1 min in air or 15 min in N2. The same basic technique was used to create multilayered coatings with concentration gradients of hydroxyapatite (HA) particles and SiO2.

  • Patent number: 4688756
Abstract: A single metal-seated ball valve can accommodate differential temperature expansion of the components without jamming yet provide tight shutoff in a closed position, and provides tight shutoff even if solids are present in the fluid being valved. The valve includes a valve body with a through-extending bore and interior cavity, and a rotatable valve element (such as a ball) having a through-extending passageway and mounted for rotation about an axis for movement between the first, open position in which the passageway and bore are generally aligned, and a second, closed position wherein the passageway and bore are not aligned. A metal sealing ring, or a machined sealing surface of the metal valve body, sealingly engages the valve element and prevents flow of fluid through the bore when the valve element is in its second, closed position. A pair of elongated flexible linear spring elements bias the valve element into sealing relationship with the sealing ring.

  • Patent number: 4084657
Abstract: A valve positioned in the fuel supply line of a vehicle has two positions selectable by means of a key-operated lock. In the first position, the valve permits full fuel flow allowing the vehicle to operate in its normal manner. In the second position, the valve only permits a greatly reduced fuel flow allowing the vehicle to operate at idle speed, and thereby preventing the vehicle from being operated in its normal manner by an unauthorized user.

  • Patent number: 3964728
Abstract: A self closing safety gate valve controls the flow of heavy, viscous fluids such as machine oil, rubber cement, lacquer, or the like. The valve housing contains a rotor with a spring biased thrust exerted laterally against the rotor, to hold it--in normal position--against the housing wall with a metal-to-metal seal at the output orifice. When the rotor turns, a pair of large output orifice openings, in the housing and rotor, are aligned--in off-normal position--in order to enable the out flow of fluid. A spring biased handle automatically returns the rotor from the off-normal to the normal position, where the thrust again presses the rotor body against the large output orifice opening in the housing.
