Patent number: 4874559Abstract: The invention concerns a process and an apparatus for maintaining a very thin film in an exchanger involving a flowing liquid film. The process wherein the liquid films are fed by gravity from a liquid source is characterised in that: each film is fed at the permanent flow (kd.sub.1) corresponding to the feed flow rate (d.sub.1) of the source; then for a short period of time the flow rate is increased to a transient value (kd.sub.2) for establishing a continuous film over the whole of the corresponding flow surface; then operation returns to the flow rate (kd.sub.1) for the film in question, the short periods of feeding the different films at their transient flow rates (kd.sub.2) being displaced in respect of time. The apparatus according to the invention comprises at the top of each flow tube a movable sleeve, lifting movement or rotary movement of which opens a supplementary communication between the liquid source and the tube, permitting the film flow rate to assume the transient value (kd.sub.2).Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1989Date of Patent: October 17, 1989Assignee: Compagnie Europenne Du Zirconium CezusInventor: Pierre Brun

Patent number: 4142481Abstract: This invention relates to a vaporific carburetor for a gasoline engine, consisting of an evaporator tube assembly inclined to the horizon, an auxiliary fuel tank assembly at the upper end of the evaporator tube assembly, a mixer tube assembly at the lower portion of the evaporator tube assembly and an auxiliary water tank connected by a small water pipe to the upper portion of the evaporator tube assembly. The vaporific carburetor differs from the vaporizer carburetor in four different aspects. The first difference is in the cut at the outlet of the high speed tube, and the position of the cut with respect to the venturi. In the vaporizer carburetor the said cut is perpendicular to the wall of the venturi while in the vaporific carburetor the said cut is parallel with the wall of the venturi. The second difference is in the connection of the inlet of the idling speed tube.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1977Date of Patent: March 6, 1979Inventor: Clemente Minoza

Patent number: 4136139Abstract: Disclosed is a variable venturi type carburetor comprising a movable suction piston. The suction piston has a needle entering into a stationary jet. The needle and the jet defines an annular opening through which the fuel is injected into the intake passage formed in the carburetor. The jet is connected to a fuel reservoir via a fuel supply passage. The fuel supply passage is connected to the atmosphere via an air bleed passage. A bubble generating pipe made of sintered metal is disposed in the fuel supply passage at a position in which the air bleed passage opens to the fuel supply passage for creating fine bubbles of air in the fuel.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Aisan Industry Col., Ltd.Inventors: Norihiko Nakamura, Takaaki Itou, Kazuo Kikuchi

Patent number: 4132199Abstract: An air-fuel ratio control apparatus for use in a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine provided with a carburetor including a main fuel supply system and a low speed fuel supply system for supplying fuel to the engine. The apparatus includes an electromagnetic valve for controlling the volume of air flowing through the air bleed of the main fuel supply system, an electromagnetic valve for controlling the volume of air flowing through the air bleed of the low speed fuel supply system, an O.sub.2 sensor for detecting the concentration of O.sub.2 in exhaust emissions, and a control circuit for producing as an output a control signal in accordance with a signal from the O.sub.2 sensor. The two electromagnetic valves are controlled by the same signal from the control circuit.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1977Date of Patent: January 2, 1979Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Kuroiwa, Yutaka Nishimura, Yoshishige Ohyama, Torazo Nishimiya

Patent number: 4132204Abstract: A fuel spray bar is disposed in the induction passage of an internal combustion engine for spraying fuel into the induction air stream. The spray bar contains a pair of separate fuel distribution rails designated as the main (or light load) fuel distribution rail and the auxiliary (or power) fuel distribution rail. A plurality of spaced orifices communicate each rail with the induction passage. A pressure regulator assembly is disposed on the fuel spray bar and contains a main pressure relief valve assembly, the outlet of which is in communication with the main fuel distribution rail of the spray bar and an auxiliary pressure relief valve assembly, the outlet of which is in communication with the auxiliary rail. A motor driven control pump delivers fuel to the inlet of the pressure regulator assembly. At idle and light engine loading, only the main valve assembly is open so that fuel is sprayed into the induction air passage solely via the main fuel distribution rail and its orifices.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1976Date of Patent: January 2, 1979Assignee: Chrysler CorporationInventor: Kenneth W. Patent number: 4129625Abstract: A simplified, selectively actuatable deicing apparatus for evaporative water cooling towers is provided which permits selective delivery of hot water from the upper distribution basin to the outer margin of the tower for deicing of the fill structure and inlet louvers thereof in order to maintain adequate airflow through the tower during sub-freezing ambient conditions. The deicing apparatus includes a substantially continuous slot in the bottom of the distribution basin adjacent its outer margin, in combination with valving devices for directing the flow of hot water through any selected segment of the slot to the underlying outer margin of the tower. The hot water carrying flume which feeds the distribution basin has a normal water level spaced above the bottom of the basin and is in direct flow communication with the latter at an elevation corresponding to its bottom such that a substantial part of the tower water is available for delivery through the selected segment of the slot.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1977Date of Patent: December 12, 1978Assignee: The Marley CompanyInventors: Homer E.
