  • Patent number: 8960648
Abstract: An arrangement for removing dust from the atmosphere during cleaning of a generally flat surface, such as floor, includes a reservoir for providing water to a nozzle. Also included is an air compressor and a compressed air tank. Compressed air is provided in a controlled manner at an elevated pressure to the nozzle to reduce the water to minute droplets which absorb/encapsulate the dust particles and deposit them on the floor surface under the influence of gravity. A manual or automatic pressure regulator coupled to the outlet of the compressed air tank allows for selecting the air velocity and the size of the water droplets to match the size of the dust particles to increase the extent of dust removal. This dust removal approach can be used with virtually any type of generally flat surface and the compressed air has a siphoning effect to increase the water droplets produced and the dust particles removed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tubular reactor for carrying out catalytic gas-phase reactions, containing a catalyst tube bundle (8) that is traversed by the relevant reaction gas mixture, is filled with a catalyst, extends between two tube sheets (4, 148) and around which flows a heat transfer medium contained within a surrounding reactor jacket (6). The reactor also comprises gas entry and discharge hoods (2; 60) that cover the two tube sheets for supplying the relevant process gas to the catalyst tubes and for discharging the reacted process gas from the catalyst tubes. Together with all the parts that come into contact with the process gas mixture, the reactor is designed to have an appropriate strength for withstanding the deflagration and explosive pressures that are to be taken into account during its operation. The volume available to the process gas mixture prior to its entry into the catalyst tubes is restricted as much as possible in construction and flow engineering terms.

Abstract: An aqueous scream is pumped through a vortex cylinder. The aqueous stream is rotated in a downwardly moving spiral stream within the vortex cylinder at a high downward velocity. The downward velocity of the aqueous stream increases as it flows through a discharge conduit concentrically located within a mixing chamber of the vortex cylinder. An adjustable air inlet tube open to atmospheric pressure extends through the vortex chamber and into the discharge conduit. A negative pressure zone is created at the discharge end of the discharge conduit for drawing air into the aqueous stream for mixing therewith and dissolving oxygen in the aqueous solution.

  • Patent number: 7434793
Abstract: A throttle body for an air intake system of an internal combustion engine, which includes a combustion chamber. The throttle body includes a body, a throttle plate and a coating. The body defines a throat through which air flows to the combustion chamber. The throttle plate, which is pivotally mounted with respect to the body, moves between first and second configurations with respect to the throat. The first configuration of the throttle plate substantially prohibits the air flow through the throat, and the second configuration of the throttle plate permits air flow through the throat. The coating, which is on at least one of the throat and the throttle plate, sheds contaminants that extend between the body and the throttle plate in the first configuration of the throttle plate.

  • Patent number: 7243909
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cooling apparatus and method wherein a supply sump and turbine are below grade. Water cooled from an above grade cooling tower fan and fill flows into the supply sump and is pumped through below grade pipes into a facility. Heat rejected water from the facility then flows through below grade pipes into a below grade collector sump. A collector sump pump pumps the heat rejected water above grade into a nozzle and back into the fill to be cooled. The present invention is constructed such that water is not idle in any above grade component. Accordingly, the risk of water freezing within the above grade components is drastically reduced. Moreover, the heat rejection water can by-pass all above grade components and travel directly into the supply sump in the event of reduced load from the facility.

Abstract: The present invention provides a magnetic write element for use in a magnetic data recording system such as a disk drive. The invention provides a method of manufacturing a well defined coil, which avoids the problem of shallow wall angle problems exhibited by prior art methods due to coil mask shrinkage during high temperature bake. A series of trenches are provided in the coil mask, the trenches being shallower than the coil pattern, and not extending completely through the coil pattern. During the high temperature baking process shrinkage of the coil mask will be absorbed by the trenches and not transferred to the coil pattern, preventing deformation of the coil wall portion of the mask.
