  • Patent number: 8187227
Abstract: A barrier of a vacuum pump prevents contamination from entering a vacuum pump air line. The barrier separates parts of the pump and is moveable between an initial state and a distended state. The barrier is assembled within the pump with a pre-load. When the vacuum source is applied to the barrier, the barrier achieves a distended state and when the vacuum source is released, the barrier incrementally self returns to an initial state. The geometry and material construction of the barrier, along with the pre-load, assists in returning the barrier on its own to the initial state from the distended state.

  • Publication number: 20100308479
Abstract: A carburetor with a starter includes a carburetor body, a main fuel supply device with a swing frame, an idle speed fuel supply device with a main metering pin, a starter a joint for a fuel input pipe and a main nozzle having a fuel nozzle. The carburetor further comprises an operating mechanism having a linkage arm and an air strangler. The air strangler and the linkage arm are pivoted to two sides of the carburetor body, respectively. The linkage arm has an upper position and a lower position formed thereon. The upper position presses against the swing frame so as to move the main metering pin and cause the air strangler to shut down an air passage in the carburetor body.

  • Patent number: 6941925
Abstract: In a fuel supply control system for an engine in which a valve housing is provided with a negative pressure working chamber, and a negative pressure responsive-type control valve operable to be opened and closed in response to generation and extinction of a negative pressure in the negative pressure working chamber, the control valve being incorporated into a fuel passage between a fuel tank and a carburetor, the negative pressure working chamber being in communication with a negative pressure generating section in the engine through a negative pressure conduit, an oil flow-out preventing device is provided in a connecting portion for connecting the negative pressure generating section and the negative pressure conduit to each other.

  • Publication number: 20040244775
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel dosage device comprising a fuel chamber (5), a fuel inlet (6) which can be opened and closed and leads to the fuel chamber (5), and at least one fuel outlet (14) leading from the fuel chamber to a suction channel (16) of an internal combustion engine. Part of a wall of the fuel chamber (5) consists of a first element (12) which can be moved according to a pressure difference between a pressure in the fuel chamber (5) and an ambient air pressure, said element being coupled to a closing element (7, 8) for opening and closing the fuel inlet (6). Said fuel dosage device enables a quantity of fuel, which is supplied to the suction channel (16) for a pre-defined operating position of the internal combustion engine, to be automatically regulated according to the ambient air pressure.

  • Patent number: 6494180
Abstract: A manually guided implement having an internal combustion engine is provided. A fuel/air mixture is supplied to the internal combustion engine via a diaphragm carburetor. The engine is cooled by a cooling fan that is driven by the internal combustion engine and that generates an air stream. The diaphragm carburetor has a fuel-filled control chamber with a control diaphragm which on that side facing away from the control chamber delimits a compensation chamber. To limit speed, a control pressure line is provided between the compensation chamber and the air stream generated by the cooling fan.

  • Patent number: 6234456
Abstract: A diaphragm carburetor for an internal combustion engine has a carburetor housing having an intake channel with a venturi section. A plate valve is positioned in the intake channel. A fuel outlet valve is mounted in the venturi section. A fuel-filled control chamber is provided and delimited at one side by a diaphragm. A fuel supply channel is connected to the control chamber. A supply valve is mounted in the fuel supply channel and actuated by the diaphragm. A first fuel channel connects the control chamber and the fuel outlet valve. At least one fixed main throttle is mounted in the first fuel channel for fixedly determining a fuel flow cross-section to the fuel outlet valve. A lever is provided for actuating the valve plate. An adjustable stop cooperates with the lever. The flow cross-section of the intake air is adjusted by the stop to a desired air/fuel ratio and is changeable, in a limited range, in a direction of increasing the flow cross-section.

  • Patent number: 6217008
Abstract: In a diaphragm-type carburetor, a fuel vapor treating chamber is provided in a downstream fuel passage which interconnects a fuel pump operated in response to a pulsation pressure from a pulsation pressure generating source and an inlet bore in a constant-pressure fuel chamber. The fuel vapor treating chamber is located before the inlet bore, and a porous element for finely dividing fuel vapor is placed in the fuel vapor treating chamber. Thus, when a fuel vapor is generated in the fuel discharged from the fuel pump, a large amount of fuel vapor can be prevented from being ejected all at one time from a fuel nozzle by finely dividing the fuel vapor and introducing it along with the fuel into the constant-pressure fuel chamber, it is immediately passed toward the fuel nozzle, whereby the variation in air-fuel ratio of a fuel-air mixture can be suppressed to a very small level.

  • Patent number: 6202988
Abstract: A diaphragm-type carburetor includes a fuel well communicating with a lower end of a fuel nozzle, a constant-pressure fuel chamber communicating with the fuel well through an outlet bore, and a fuel pump incorporated in fuel passages defined between an inlet bore of the constant-pressure fuel chamber and a fuel tank. A fuel introduction control valve controls the introduction of fuel into the constant-pressure fuel chamber. The fuel introduction control valve includes a valve seat member which communicates at its lower end with the fuel well through a bypass passage extending above the constant-pressure fuel chamber. Thus, when fuel vapor is introduced into the constant-pressure fuel chamber, it immediately passes towards the fuel nozzle, whereby the extreme reduction in air-fuel ratio of a fuel-air mixture can be avoided.
