In the method, after mixing a composition to produce a sheet from renewable raw materials, this composition is applied to a conveyor belt. Without supplying heat, the composition is then subjected to a first drying process on the conveyor belt, before the endless sheet created in this way is cut into sections. The sections are then passed on to final drying in a storage device. After complete drying, regions at the extremities of the sections that have been adversely affected by cutting up the endless sheet are removed from these sections and chopped up into chips. These chips are returned to the further production process in a final method step by feeding them into the composition for producing a sheet from renewable raw materials.

The leather pellets are produced through the following steps: Shavings, crust leather remnants and finished leather waste are obtained as waste products in leather production and finished leather processing; the shavings, crust leather remnants and finished leather waste are milled into ground leather stock comprising leather fibers; the ground stock is pressed into leather pellets; and the leather pellets are dried to a residual moisture content of no more than 30% by weight. The leather pellets can be mixed with a polymer material at a ratio of 10-95% by weight and bonded to one another and shaped forming compound granules. The compound granules can be used to produce molded parts by injection molding or films by calendering.

  • Publication number: 20130196154
Abstract: A method produces pellets from fiber composite materials suitable for further processing in a plastics finishing method. The pellets contain individual carbon fibers, carbon fiber bundles, or a mixture thereof and at least one thermoplastic matrix material. The carbon fibers, carbon fiber bundles, or a mixture thereof are isolated from waste or used parts that contain carbon fiber, laid flat together with the thermoplastic matrix material, compressed into a sheet material under the effect of heat, and subsequently cooled and comminuted into pellets, platelets, or chips. This enables the use of carbon fibers, from production waste components, as reinforcing fibers, whereby an inexpensive raw material is provided and the carbon fibers that are contained in the waste materials are recycled. The final carbon fibers are brought into a pourable and readily meterable form and can be used as raw materials for extrusion or injection molding for example.

In some embodiments, the method includes the steps of forming a mat from a plurality of wood elements and an adhesive, the mat having a width W measured substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the mat and an initial thickness T1. The mat is then moved in a machine direction, the machine direction being substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis and the temperature across the width W of the mat is adjusted. The mat is then compressed into a billet having a final thickness T2. In some embodiments, the system includes a continuous movement mechanism, a side preheat assembly, and a press assembly.
