The multi-layered wiper comprises a wiping body having a wiping face, an acute wiping tip, and vertical slits, formed of a first material, over-molded to a retention body, formed of another material harder than the first material. By virtue of having a multi-layered wiper comprising a wiping body, formed of a first material, over-molded to a retention body, formed of another material, harder than the first material, the multi-layered wiper is capable of providing exceptional installation characteristics, while simultaneously providing exceptional wiping characteristics.

Abstract: A weld line formed by injection molding of a sealing member is formed at a circumferential position out of deepest portions of axial grooves, which form thinned portions of the sealing member (optimally, in a region of a cylindrical surface between the axial grooves in a circumferential direction). Thus, the sealing member is prevented from being provided with parts having locally markedly low strength, and hence damage to be caused by press-fitting is prevented.

Abstract: An electronic device may have structures such as housing structures, display structures and other device structures that form gaps when assembled. To prevent intrusion of moisture and other environmental contaminants, the gaps may be filled using gap sealing material. The gap sealing material may be a liquid polymer that is applied to the gap in a way that creates an excess protruding portion. Light-based processing techniques and application of solvent may be used to remove excess material. A sealing material such as an adhesive may be applied to gaps to forming a sealing structure. A material may be applied to the adhesive sealing material to cause the sealing material to expand and fill the gap. An undersized gasket may be placed in a gap. The gasket may include materials such as polymer that expands upon application of moisture.

Abstract: A process for thermoforming a discrete section of an amorphous pliable thermoplastic sheet in a temperature-controlled thermoforming mold to provide a discrete thermoformed section having one or more discrete shaped articles formed therein and to heat the shaped articles to a temperature below the Tm but above the Tg of the polylactic acid polymer in the sheet to induce crystallization of the polylactic acid polymer in the shaped articles. While unconstrained by the thermoforming mold, the discrete thermoformed section is tempered at a temperature such that the polylactic acid polymer in the shaped articles achieves a degree of crystallization of at least about 5% (as measured by X-ray diffraction) to thereby increase heat resistance of the shaped articles.
