Abstract: Disclosed is a method for easily producing a long porous thermosetting resin sheet which has no resin coating film on the surface. Also disclosed are a porous thermosetting resin sheet produced by the method, and a composite semipermeable membrane having excellent chemical resistance and practical water permeability and salt-blocking property. The porous thermosetting resin sheet can be produced by forming a cylindrical or columnar resin block which is composed of a cured product of a thermosetting resin composition containing a thermosetting resin, a curing agent and a porogen; then forming a long thermosetting resin sheet by cutting the surface of the resin block at a certain thickness; and then removing the porogen from the thermosetting resin sheet.

Abstract: A process for producing fibre preforms for composite material components makes it possible to directly produce complex geometries in a flexible and low-cost manner by applying a plurality of dry fibre rovings independently of one another even in spatially uneven contours. It is no longer necessary to use cut fabric strips since fibre preforms are produced straight from the dry fibre rovings. This obviates the need to carry out production, transport and order picking processes. It is not necessary to cut fibre strips to size, and therefore a saving may be made on material. In addition, it is possible to increase the mechanical characteristic values in the composite material because it is not necessary to sew fibre webs. The described process can also readily be scaled since the number of dry fibre rovings arranged next to one another make it possible to vary the area which can be covered.

  • Patent number: 7754127
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for fabricating an anti-fatigue mat that employs a layer of resilient gel material. The method employs a frame assembly that receives a flexible sheet to form the base sheet of the mat. In one embodiment, the frame assembly includes a movable frame member having an angled aperture for controlling the geometry of the gel layer when heated gel is dispensed into the aperture. In one embodiment, the frame assembly receives another flexible sheet disposed on the gel layer to form the support sheet of the mat. In one embodiment, the frame assembly may further include a cooling channel for convective or liquid cooling of liquid gel dispensed into a gel receiving cavity formed by the aperture.

  • Patent number: 7740790
Abstract: A method of making a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film includes continuously heat treating of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film 2 while the latter is jointed to a sheet-like support member 4, and subsequently separating the heat-treated thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film 2 from the support member 4. The continuous heat treatment of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film 2 then jointed to the support member 4 is carried out for a predetermined heating time within the range of 5 to 60 seconds at a predetermined heating temperature T° C. equal to or higher than the melting point Tm° C. of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film less 15° C. (i.e., Tm?15° C.), but lower than the melting point Tm° C. (thus, Tm?15° C.?T° C.<Tm° C.), to thereby increase the thermal expansion coefficient of the thermotropic liquid crystal polymer film.
