Patent number: 7455772Abstract: A vinylidene fluoride resin having a weight-average molecular weight as relatively high as 300,000 or higher is mixed with a plasticizer and good solvent for the vinylidene fluoride resin to obtain a composition. A molten extrudate of the composition in a hollow-fiber membrane state is contacted, on its outer side, with a cooling liquid inert to the vinylidene fluoride resin to thereby cool the extrudate. During the solidification, the vinylidene fluoride resin is moderately and mildly crystallized. Thus, a hollow-fiber porous vinylidene fluoride resin membrane is produced which has a high crystallinity represented by an enthalpy of crystal melting 58 J/g or higher. The hollow-fiber porous membrane obtained is excellent in mechanical strength represented by tensile strength and elongation at break and in chemical resistance. It is effectively used as a water microfiltration membrane.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2005Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Kureha CorporationInventors: Yasuhiro Tada, Takeo Takahashi, Masayuki Hino, Shingo Taniguchi, Kenichi Suzuki, Toshiya Mizuno

Publication number: 20080221299Abstract: Disclosed are wholly aromatic polyamide filament and a method of manufacturing the same, characterized in that, in a process of preparing wholly aromatic polyamide polymer, a multiple tubular feed pipe for polymeric monomer and polymerization solvent with specific construction of adjacent inner paths 11a and outer paths 11b which are alternately arranged one another is used to feed either aromatic diacid chloride A or aromatic diamine dissolved in the polymerization solvent B into a polymerization reactor 20 through corresponding one among the inner and outer paths 11a and 11b. The present invention is effective to progress uniform and homogeneous polymerization over all of area of a polymerization reactor 20 leading to reduction of deviation in degree of polymerization, since polymeric monomers are miscible and react together very well immediately after putting the monomers into the reactor 20.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 5, 2006Publication date: September 11, 2008Inventors: In-Sik Han, Jae-Young Lee, Seung-Hwan Lee, Chang-Bae Lee, So-Yeon Kwon

Publication number: 20080087372Abstract: A method of manufacturing an ink stick for use in a phase change ink jet imaging device comprises heating phase change ink material to an extrusion temperature at which the phase change ink material is in a malleable state. The ink is then extruded through an extrusion orifice to form at least one extruded ink filament having at least one cross-sectional dimension transverse to the extrusion direction that is less than approximately 12 mm. The at least one ink filament is then accumulated.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2006Publication date: April 17, 2008Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Brent Rodney Jones, Brian G. Patent number: 7228612Abstract: A method of making a removable refrigerator storage assembly is provided. The method includes feeding a polymeric or metal material into an extruder and directing the material through a die having an aperture with a first and second leg formed therein, thereby forming an intermediate shelf extrusion. The intermediate shelf extrusion is cut into a predetermined length to form the shelf extrusion having a bottom wall integrally formed with a side wall. The shelf extrusion is painted or plated to a specific finish. The method also encompasses attaching to both ends of the shelf extrusion end walls having brackets formed thereon for removably engaging supports formed on the door of a refrigerator.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Viking Range CorporationInventor: Daniel Lyvers
