The energy diffusion sealing ring [872] comprises a sacrificial suspension matrix [872A] comprised of a polymer, elastomer, or combination thereof, and a number of packed inserts [872B] suspended in the matrix [872]. The inserts [872B] comprise a hard material (e.g., ceramic or carbide) and form wear bodies which slow and dissipate kinetic energy of escaping slurry by way of creating paths of resistance. As the suspension matrix [872A] erodes over time, a plurality of interstices [872C] between the inserts [872B] are formed. • Patent number: 8664107
Abstract: Disclosed are an application method, device and program which enable the constant retention of a fillet shape, without altering the shape due to the speed differences associated with changes in the direction of the nozzle or differences in the degree of penetration when bumps are arranged non-uniformly. In a liquid material application method a desired application pattern is created, liquid material is discharged from a nozzle whilst the nozzle and a workpiece are moved relative to one another, and the gap between a substrate and the workpiece, the workpiece being placed above the substrate by means of at least three bumps, is filled up with liquid material by capillary action. If bumps are arranged non-uniformly, the supply quantity per unit area of the application pattern is set so that a greater quantity is supplied to application areas next to areas where the integration density of bumps is high, than is supplied to application areas next to areas where the integration density of bumps is low.

Abstract: Methods of joining members, forming molded portions with members, securing inserts with members, and joined members, such as for a frame or a frame for a fenestration unit, formed thereby, are disclosed. One embodiment of the method includes placing a first member with a first cavity in a joining position, placing a second member proximate the first cavity of the first member in the joining position, injecting a resin into the first cavity, allowing the resin to solidify at least partially to join the first member and second member to form a joined member, and removing the joined member from the joining position. Optionally, the joined member can be formed in a fixture, can include molded portions formed by the resin, and/or can include inserts held in place by the resin. Further, members without cavities can form a cavity that can receive the resin.

Abstract: An internal stiffening member of varying configurations in which the stiffening elements support the skin using a compression-only load path is disclosed. A rib can be inserted into an assembled structural box beam, and a filler material can be used to fill any gaps between the slip-in rib and the interior surface of the structural box beam. The filler material is preferably an expandable material, such as an expandable foam-type material. However, in situations where a slip-in rib forms a primary structural rib, the filler material is preferably a structural adhesive or liquid shim material. A solid adhesive or filler would not crush under the clamping forces from fasteners or bolts at localized fitting attachments.

Abstract: The present invention teaches a packaging box and a related manufacturing method. The packaging box contains a top cover and a bottom cover. The top cover is an assembly of a first member and a second member embedded in a first indentation of the first member. The first member directly supports the packaged objects and has a better buffering capability than that of the second member. The bottom cover is an assembly of a third member and a fourth member embedded in a second indentation of the third member. The third member directly supports the packaged objects and has a better buffering capability than that of the fourth member. As such, the present invention can effectively reduce the material cost as well as product cost for the packaging box.
