A fluid casting compound of a material having a solidified hardness of not more than about 200 N, defined as the force at which an 11 mm sphere of the material will shatter, is introduced into the mold, so that it essentially fills all of the cavities, and the casting compound is then solidified and removed from the mold.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2002Date of Patent: March 15, 2005Assignee: Reckitt Benckiser N.V.Inventors: Ralf Wiedemann, Natascha Daschner, Axel Halbherr, Jacobus Simon Petrus Van Diepen, Ludwig Hertling

Publication number: 20040256770Abstract: A method of manufacturing a safety helmet, including forming, through a process of injection molding using a single mold, a basic safety helmet comprising a basic outer shell having a brim integrally formed with a dome. The brim of the basic safety helmet may have a uniform and constant width, or a variable width around a lower perimeter of the dome. The method also includes selectively removing portions of the basic safety helmet after the basic safety helmet is formed to produce a modified safety helmet.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2003Publication date: December 23, 2004Inventors: Christopher Padgett, William B. Patent number: 6824723Abstract: A molding and tentatively retaining mold 10 of the invention has a plurality of molds which are relatively movable with respect to a fixed mold, and molds a housing 31 and rear holders 32 and 33, which are respectively independent, in a plurality of cavities formed in cooperation with the fixed mold. When the rear holders 32 and 33 are relatively moved with respect to the housing 31 by a pair of rear-holder tentatively retaining cylinders 19 after molding, and are tentatively retained, the amount of movement of a pair of third movable molds 14 is set to be greater by a predetermined amount than an amount of movement necessary for tentatively retaining the rear holders 32 and 33, and the third movable molds 14 after movement are stopped at the moved positions until a predetermined time elapses.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2000Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventors: Norio Kawamura, Hiroshi Murashita, Junich Hamamoto, Takashi Masuda, Toshimi Nakashima, Kazuhiko Hiraguchi, Kenji Takahashi

Publication number: 20040232597Abstract: In a method for sealing an access channel provided for permitting a tool to access a setscrew for securing an electronic lead connector pin to a connector block in the header of a pacemaker or the like, a sealing device having a flexible body with at least one open through hole is formed in a one-step operation. The sealing device has a cross dimension that at least in one direction is larger than a corresponding cross dimension of the access channel. The sealing device is mounted in the header by compressing and positioning the sealing device in the access channel. The difference in cross dimension between the access channel and the sealing device is such that a maintained deformation of the sealing device occurs, which produces a sealing closure of the through hole(s) when the sealing device is mounted in the access channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2004Publication date: November 25, 2004Applicant: St. Jude Medical ABInventors: Johan Sjostedt, Per Jarl

Publication number: 20040222560Abstract: A device for molding a container is disclosed. The device will include a first member including an opening defined therein. A manifold member, operatively attached to the first member for channeling a plastic fluid to an insert means, is included. The insert means are positioned within the opening located within the first member, with the insert containing a first slide and a second slide. The first slide and second slide will have an extended position and a contracted position, and wherein the contracted position defines a cavity profile. The second member will have a first end that contains a plurality of core pins. A piston is adapted to the second end of the second member for reciprocating the second member into engagement with the insert so that the first slide and second slide are moved to the contracted position. During the reciprocating motion, the plurality of core pins are received in the cavity profile. The apparatus will further comprise heater means for suppling a heat to the fluidized plastic.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2004Publication date: November 11, 2004Inventor: Kent A. Louviere

Patent number: 6811736Abstract: A method of producing a plastic product having a microstructured surface (3a), utilizing an arrangement for moulding plastic products. Said arrangement has at least two mould parts (2, 3) movable towards and away from each other, a predetermined volume of a viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) being supplied to a cavity formed between the mould parts, after which polymerization of the plastic material occurs. After said polymerization of the plastic material (9′), the mould parts are caused to move apart from each other thereby allowing removal of a finished plastic product the outer shape of which conforms to the shape of the cavity produced by the mould parts. Said viscous polymerizable plastic material (9) is supplied to the cavity (6) around a hole (10a) pertaining to the finished plastic product, and said viscous plastic material is distributed in a direction from said hole (10a) towards the peripheral edge area of the plastic product.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignees: Gyros AB, Amic ABInventors: Per Ove Ohman, Lars Rune Lundbladh

Publication number: 20040212126Abstract: An apparatus and method for molding multi-material parts. The mold has a plurality of first mold cavities interspersed alternately among a plurality of second mold cavities. A first molten material is injected into the first mold cavities and solidified. Cores with the first material are moved only one mold pitch to the second mold cavities where a second molten material is injected and solidified with the first material to form the multi-material parts which are ejected from the mold when it is opened. In one embodiment, cavities and cores are arranged in a column, and dummy cores on each end of a column of cores close off the injection nozzle in an end cavity from which a core has been removed for a molding cycle. In another embodiment, cavities and cores are arranged radially, and cores are rotationally moved one mold pitch with each molding cycle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2003Publication date: October 28, 2004Applicant: Husky Injection Molding Systems LTDInventors: Richard Edward Tustin, Adrian Peter Looije
