Patent number: 4737219Abstract: A process for making a balloon for use on a multilumen catheter using as a form for the balloon a mandrel having at least one groove and at least one score line. The mandrel is rotated while metering into the groove a thermoplastic adhesive. The balloon stock is formed by coating the mandrel with a solid thermosetting polyurethane prepolymer. After cooling of the mandrel a film of thermoplastic adhesive is wrapped over the balloon at about the score line. Once the assembly is cured the balloon stock is removed to result in a balloon having an adhesive film on the internal wall at one end and an adhesive film on the external wall at the other end.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1986Date of Patent: April 12, 1988Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Robert A. Patent number: 4519098Abstract: Methods are provided for producing protective work gloves and other wearing apparel, having a variety of different protective and surface characteristics, as desired, without any separate cutting, knitting or sewing operations, and wearing apparel so produced by such methods. The method includes, for example, developing a work glove including its liner in a series of steps applied sequentially to a single form moving through a production line. The method eliminates the need for a separate operation for producing fabric liners including cutting, sewing and the manual loading of each individual liner on a form for subsequent dipping and coating operations. The resulting gloves may be moisture impervious or breathable, and have a variety of textured surfaces for various uses.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1983Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 4423100Abstract: The present invention relates to release coatings which comprise cellulosic esters or cellulosic ethers in combination with adhesion-promoting compounds having an affinity for vinyl chloride-containing compositions. The release coatings maintain their adherence characteristics during processing of the structure in which they are disposed, but substantially lose their adherence characteristics when said structure is fused, thereby becoming easily separable from the resulting product.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1982Date of Patent: December 27, 1983Assignee: Armstrong World Industries, Inc.Inventor: Jack H. Patent number: 4297153Abstract: A method and apparatus for making doll clothing and doll house accessories includes a plurality of mold shapes or forms which are used to produce various articles of attire such as dresses, pants, and doll house furnishings such as cushions, curtains, rugs, flowers and many other items. Each of the garment molds may include detachable portions, such as the arms, to facilitate removing a finished article from the mold itself. The doll house accessories are made in generally flat molds which provide the texture and shape of the finished item. A viscous, liquid plastic is applied to the exterior surface of the mold by a brush or other tool to cover the exterior of the mold which defines the particular article. The liquid coating sets or solidifies to form a flexible article adapting the contours of the mold. The garment is then removed from the exterior of the mold.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1980Date of Patent: October 27, 1981Assignee: Marvin Glass & AssociatesInventors: Erick E. Erickson, Allison W. Patent number: 4264389Abstract: A tennis racket frame is constructed primarily of an elongated tubular member having a wall thereof consisting of a plurality of concentric layers of high tensile strength fibers impregnated and bonded together by binder resin to produce a hollow cored tennis racket. The method includes forming a plurality of string holes in the head portion of the racket, during or prior to the molding operation. The holes are formed by separating the fibers around the location of the hole by passing pointed penetrating tools through the frame in the area which will form the head portion thereof, and either retaining the tool in position in the holes during molding, or replacing the tools with positioning pins or grommets prior to the molding operation. If the pins are utilized they may be removed after molding of the racket is complete, and if grommets are utilized they become integrally attached to the racket and provide additional support for the strings.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 1980Date of Patent: April 28, 1981Assignee: Starwin Industries, Inc.Inventors: Anthony F.
