The core pin sleeve is subjected to responsive three dimensional motion, allowing an internally threaded workpiece to be unscrewed from the core pin sleeve. The system does not require separate drives for the core pin sleeve, a single stripper plate drive being sufficient.

The sides move inward with the help of guide pins and dovetail grooves, thereby reducing the build envelope volume. For large builds, both motors rotate in the reverse direction to increase the build envelope volume. By changing the build envelope volume according to the given build size, powder waste is reduced.

The blocks may release from the mold and fall onto the collection surface. If any blocks remain in the mold, a plunger mechanism is pushed against the sagging mold to release the blocks. Guide members may facilitate positioning the blocks on the collection surface.
