  • Patent number: 4553545
Abstract: Device comprising a helically shaped spiral spring and means for bringing the spring to expand from a first state of a certain diameter to a second state of larger diameter and vice versa, characterized thereby that said means are arranged to rotate the ends of the spring relative to each other with maintained length of the spring so that the transition from said first state to said second state takes place by reducing the number of spring turns within said length and the corresponding increase of the pitch of the spring, or to supply to a given length of the spring further spring material at at least one end of the said length of the spring so that the transition from said first state to said second state takes place independent of pitch and number of spring turns within the said length; and a method for transluminal implantation of an intravascular prosthesis using the said device.

  • Patent number: 4543988
Abstract: The invention relates to a stop which is locked in position a bore of an operative device as well as to a device provided with at least one such stop. The stop is adapted for use particularly with, but not exclusively, with a safety valve. The stop includes a skirt adapted to be received in a bore and having at one end (29) by which it is connected to a centering dish (26), a diameter which adjusts itself practically without play in the bore (30) designed to receive the stop. At a second free end (31) the skirt has a diameter prior to positioning in the bore which is larger than that of the bore (30) intended to receive the stop so that, during the assembly, the skirt is compressed by the walls of the bore and thereafter, by reaction, it is forcibly pressed against the walls of the bore (30).

  • Patent number: 4390171
Abstract: A compression spring capsule is provided for tubular valve actuating members and incorporates a plurality of helical compression springs arranged in circular relation. Opposed generally cylindrical spring retainers each being receivable in a cylindrical receptacle form opposed receptacles receiving opposed ends of the springs. Spring guide rods are disposed within each of the helical springs with the ends thereof received within the opposed receptacles of the spring retainers.

  • Patent number: 4362294
Abstract: A spring seat with a supporting groove for the freely terminating end of a spring wire of a coil spring for an axle suspension of a motor vehicle. The supporting groove extends merely over a circumferential angular range of about 75.degree. to 120.degree.. The supporting groove is fashioned to be approximately V-shaped in cross section and the terminating end of the spring wire of the coil spring only contacts the flanks of the V-shaped supporting groove.

  • Patent number: 4193587
Abstract: A spring recoil assembly (20) for use in a crawler type track roller frame (12) includes an elongated tubular housing (28) (46) having opposite open ends, a stop (36) at least partially closing one of the ends, a compression coil spring (30) within the housing and abutting the stop, a radially inwardly directed lip (48) on the other end of the housing having an inner diameter greater than the outer diameter of the spring, and an additional stop (52) within the housing other end and with, the first stop, sandwiches the spring within the housing. The additional stop has a periphery sized to freely pass into the housing past the lips. A retainer (60,62) is positioned within the housing between the additional stop (52) and the lip (48).

  • Patent number: 4162064
Abstract: A device permitting converting a rectilinear motion into a linear force and ice-versa consists of a helical spring having a retainer to hold the last two loops at each end relatively stationary. The immobilization is achieved either by wedges inserted between the last two loops at each end or by cups shaped so as to receive the ends of the spring. The invention is applicable in regulatory systems.

  • Patent number: 4124201
Abstract: A knockdown spring unit for seating furniture has lift springs connectible to a rail of a frame of the furniture and releasably attachable to a suitable platform arrangement forming a seating surface. The platform arrangement can either be fastened directly to the frame at points opposite connection of the lift springs to the frame, or the platform arrangement can be supported entirely by the lift springs for indirect attachment to the frame. Each of the lift springs has a coil portion which terminates at a one end thereof in an eye and at the other end thereof in a stem disposed extending transversely from the turns of the coil portion and forming a hook provided with a substantially V-shaped bend the vertex of which is normally disposed adjacent the eye of the spring when the spring is in an undeflected state.

  • Patent number: 4111070
Abstract: A spring resistance cartridge assembly for a valve actuator is disclosed which offers resistance to movement in either direction of an axial member extending therein. The cartridge assembly has a base plate securable to an axial member and an opposing fixed plate which is secured in a non-movable position. Between the base plate and the fixed plate are two compression plates having spring members trapped therebetween. Bolts and studs attach the compression plates one to each, the base plate and the fixed plate.
