Patent number: 8251356Abstract: Tool having a body and at least one jamb-securing finger can be used to install a pre-hung door. The body can be removably attached to a building component about a door opening such as a 2×4, with the finger(s) for holding a jamb component of the pre-hung door. The tool may be intrinsically adjustable. A kit may include the tool, a fastener and/or a spacer.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2009Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Inventor: Jerry E. Eschenburg

Patent number: 5883522Abstract: A retaining apparatus for retaining a semiconductor wafer on the surface of a chuck. The retaining apparatus includes elongate shafts each positioned adjacent to a perimeter of the surface of the chuck and so that a lengthwise axis of each shaft is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the chuck. Two shafts are located on one side of a diameter of the surface of the chuck and two additional shafts are located on another side of the diameter of the surface of the chuck. Retainer members are connected to each of the shafts. The retainer members extend over the surface of the chuck and portions of the semiconductor wafer resting thereon in order to retain the semiconductor wafer thereagainst when the retainer members are in a closed position. Chambers each receive another end of each of the shafts.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1996Date of Patent: March 16, 1999Assignee: National Semiconductor CorporationInventor: John O. O'Boyle

Patent number: 5805744Abstract: Even when manufacturing of a waveguide is fluctuated and an optical parameter is fluctuated or a wavelength of emitted light is fluctuated, a phase difference between two intrinsic modes can be compensated (positive integral multiple of .pi.). Thus, it is possible to prevent a reproduced signal from being deteriorated by elliptically polarized light. A magneto-optical reproducing pickup includes an optical waveguide (4) for guiding light reflected on a magneto-optical recording medium to a differential photo-detecting unit (9) side and phase compensating circuitry for compensating a phase difference between light components of a TE mode an a TM mode included in reflected light.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Satoshi Nakano, Teiichi Miyauchi, Takeshi Yamasaki, Satoshi Sasaki

Patent number: 4925167Abstract: The disclosure relates to a part carrier of universal design wherein a common carrier is provided with a customizing plate secured on a flat surface thereof and exposing a portion of the flat surface. The walls formed between the customizing plate and the flat surface define a reference surface. A clamp having a rigid finger and a resilient finger applies a force to the device being secured to the part carrier wherein the resilient finger forces the device against one reference surface and then deforms as the second finger forces the device into the reference position.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1988Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Texas Instruments, IncorporatedInventors: Brad W. Larson, Dan Hockersmith, Thomas H. Taylor, John M. Bedinger, Rick Kottman, Steve Pebley

Patent number: 4836967Abstract: A process for forming a joint for connecting a plurality of bars in a metal casing includes the steps of pouring a granulated solid into the metal casing and prestressing the solid by driving in a mandrel through the filling aperture of the casing. Thereafter, an unsinkable or a low-shrinkage hardening fluid is injected into the metal casing and permitted to harden.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1987Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Manfred BeerInventors: Erich Frantl, Peter Hofstatter

Patent number: 4794964Abstract: In a method for the manufacture of prismatic or truncated-pyramid-shaped beams, it is suggested to produce respectively two adjoining, mutually perpendicularly disposed lateral faces in one working step by simultaneous edging. In an apparatus for performing the method of this invention, a machining tool (2) with two sawing or cutting tools (7, 18) is provided, these last-mentioned tools forming a right angle with each other and being arranged offset with respect to each other in the direction of the longitudinal extension of the bole (6) to be edged.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1986Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Inventor: Johann Wolf

Patent number: 4757599Abstract: A machine which separates pallet boards from their connecting stringers by sawing essentially through their attaching nails only, thus minimizing damage to the boards so that they can be reused. In order to separate and loosen the boards so that only the nails are cut a pressing device is designed to squeeze the sides of a pallet inserted within it. Then the loosened pallet, with the boards lifted so that there is space enough for a saw blade to be inserted to cut the nails only, is sent through the previously described sawing machine.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1986Date of Patent: July 19, 1988Inventor: Marvin L. Bane

Patent number: 4507836Abstract: An access door is constituted by an outer framework adapted to be fitted in a rough opening formed in a building ceiling, wall, or the like, an inner framework set in an opening in the outer framework, a cover plate secured to the inner framework so as to close an opening in the inner framework, a pair of bearings and axis for pivotally connecting the inner framework to the outer framework, and a locking means for locking the inner framework to the outer framework when the inner framework closes the opening in the outer framework. The bearings are projected on one framework of the opposite inner surfaces of the outer framework and the opposite outer surfaces of the inner framework, and have U-shaped bearing surfaces. The axis are projected on another framework of the opposite inner surfaces of the outer surfaces of the inner framework, and pivotally supported to the bearings, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1983Date of Patent: April 2, 1985Inventor: Naka Hiromitsu

Patent number: 4047710Abstract: A framing form and clamp includes a support or base having a plurality of guideways for mounting framing blocks. A belt cooperating with a ratchet assembly surrounds the blocks. In forming and clamping a frame, frame molding strips are associated with the appropriate framing blocks of the framing form and clamp, the size and number of the strips depending upon the dimension and shape of the desired frame. The belt is tightly wound around the framing blocks to secure the strips while the corners of the adjacent strips are permanently connected to form the frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1976Date of Patent: September 13, 1977Inventor: John Wilson
