    Abstract: A retaining apparatus for retaining a semiconductor wafer on the surface of a chuck. The retaining apparatus includes elongate shafts each positioned adjacent to a perimeter of the surface of the chuck and so that a lengthwise axis of each shaft is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the chuck. Two shafts are located on one side of a diameter of the surface of the chuck and two additional shafts are located on another side of the diameter of the surface of the chuck. Retainer members are connected to each of the shafts. The retainer members extend over the surface of the chuck and portions of the semiconductor wafer resting thereon in order to retain the semiconductor wafer thereagainst when the retainer members are in a closed position. Chambers each receive another end of each of the shafts.

A clamp having a rigid finger and a resilient finger applies a force to the device being secured to the part carrier wherein the resilient finger forces the device against one reference surface and then deforms as the second finger forces the device into the reference position.

    Abstract: A framing form and clamp includes a support or base having a plurality of guideways for mounting framing blocks. A belt cooperating with a ratchet assembly surrounds the blocks. In forming and clamping a frame, frame molding strips are associated with the appropriate framing blocks of the framing form and clamp, the size and number of the strips depending upon the dimension and shape of the desired frame. The belt is tightly wound around the framing blocks to secure the strips while the corners of the adjacent strips are permanently connected to form the frame.
