With Movably Attached Part Patents (Class 273/289)
  • Patent number: 4201389
Abstract: A word game comprising a playing surface having a plurality of sections, each section being adapted to present a different letter viewable to the player, the various sections being capable of being maintained in a fixed position whereby aligned letters may be used to form a word, the remaining sections being capable of being varied to present a plurality of different letters viewable to the player or players. Optionally, the letters are dispersed on the playing surface in a manner correlated to their frequency of appearance in the English language with certain related letters being placed in juxtaposed relationship.

  • Patent number: 4198055
Abstract: A board game type game apparatus is provided by a game board having a plurality of defined stations and a plurality of playing pieces which interact with the playing stations to indicate in which direction and for how many stations a playing piece may be moved on subsequent moves. Each playing piece includes a plurality of apertures in its upper surface and a movable substrate mounted below the apertures having a predetermined pattern of light and dark areas. The pattern in combination with the apertures determines the direction of moves and the number of stations which that playing piece may be moved. The game board includes a mechanism for moving the substrate relative to the apertures so that, after each move, new information may be provided to indicate a different direction of travel and number of stations to be traversed on a subsequent move. Opposing playing pieces are captured by a proper move which terminates on a station occupied by an opponent's playing piece, which is then removed from play.

  • Patent number: 4182516
Abstract: A sailboat racing game comprises a game board having a grid pattern of interfitting connection means, and sets of sailboat representing playing pieces with complementary interfitting connection means. Each playing piece has a pair of interfitting connection means, e.g., pegs, to be interfitted in complementary holes of the grid pattern of the baseboard. The pegs of each playing piece are separated from one another by a characteristic distance, which determines the direction of travel of that playing piece across the board by interfit of the pair of pegs in the grid. Indicia are provided on the playing pieces, to indicate this direction of travel. A player determines his course of sail by selection of the appropriate playing piece. The separation of the pegs also determines the speed at which a given playing piece travels, since a playing piece moves a distance across the grid corresponding to its peg separation on each move.

  • Patent number: 4125262
Abstract: An action strategy game device includes a base having a playing surface defining a plurality of play areas on opposite sides for supporting one or more playing pieces of opposing players. A plurality of playing pieces are adapted for movement around the play areas between a back line and a front line thereof toward an opposing player's area are provided and the playing pieces normally stand upright on the base until knocked down when struck by a moving missile or cannon ball released or fired by an opposing player. Cannon balls are provided for firing along paths determined by the players and reaimed to knock down an opponent's upstanding playing pieces. The cannon balls are secured to one end of an elongated elastic member such as a rubber band which is securable to the base of the game device between the play areas. A notched wall structure is provided along the back line of each player for holding the cannon balls in place at selected positions along the back line with the elastic member under tension.

  • Patent number: 4083564
Abstract: A board game combining both skill and chance including a plurality of playing pieces provided with rotatably mounted carriages having surfaces thereof provided with multiple indicia indicating the number of moves that the playing pieces are permitted to make and magnets, a playing surface divided into a plurality of contiguous areas on which the playing pieces are positioned and along which the playing pieces move, and a plurality of magnets positioned below the playing surface and arranged in a pre-determined pattern to attract the magnets of the playing pieces to rotate the carriages and the indicia different degrees as the playing pieces are moved from one area to another so as to continuously change the number of moves that the same playing pieces may make depending on their positions on the playing surface.
