The overlay may be used with any type of card, but is preferably used with playing cards and trading cards, and is most preferably used with collectible trading cards.

Abstract: A new trivia-based card game comprising a deck of cards with a plurality of planar playing cards. Each planar playing card has three orthogonal pieces of information on its playing surface: an index, a card value, and a topic. Each planar playing card also has an answer value list and an answer list on its playing surface. The deck of cards may be sorted into unique sub-sets based off of index, card value, or topic. All of the planar playing cards contained in each sub-set sorted by topic share an answer value list and an answer list. A trivia-based card game can be played with such a deck.

A card game has sixty cards identified by either its numerical value from one to fifteen or on point value you will be rewarded when it's time to calculate your score. The cards are two sided and include four different colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. The game will also have eight picture cards. The game is played with four players and ends when a player scores two hundred points. Even though the game is played with four players, there are two to a team. The teams may change on each round. The winner of the game is the individual player who has the least amount of points when another player reaches or exceeds two hundred points.

The primary indicia may comprise characters and the secondary indicia may comprise card background colors. A deck may comprise cards of 6 ranks and cards of each rank varying between 6 and 12 cards.

Abstract: A melding card game and method of play includes 114 numbered, face, ace, mulligan, joker, and wild cards. A round is played in which nine layout cards are dealt face-down to players and arranged in a grid. Each player turns at least one layout card face up and takes a turn. In the turn, each player draws a drawn card from a discard or draw pile and plays or discards the drawn card. If the player plays the drawn card, the player replaces a layout card with the drawn card. The players play one additional turn after an ender player turns all of their respective cards face up. A score for each player is then determined. A penalty is assigned to the ender player if another player has a lower score. Nine rounds are played. The player with the lowest total score is declared the winner.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for multiplayer team balancing in a virtual environment. A group activity is provided in which at least two teams of avatars participate. Each team has a respective plurality of distinct avatars, and each avatar is controlled by a respective player. The at least teams are in competition with one another to achieve a predefined objective when participating in the group activity. Upon it being determined, when the group activity is in progress, that a first player of a first avatar on a first team of the at least two teams is no longer available to participate in the group activity, a balancing action is performed in order to compensate for the first player no longer being available to participate in the group activity.

Abstract: In accordance with a poker game, a player is dealt a first set of cards, such as 5 cards. The player elects which cards to hold and which cards to discard, if any. Upon discarding any cards, a player is dealt a second set of cards, preferably in the same number as the first set of cards. Subsets of the second set of replacement cards are combined with the cards held from the first set of cards to form final hands of cards. Each final hand is evaluated to determine if it is a winning or losing hand, such as against a standard poker paytable. Awards may be varied depending upon the size of the player's wager and/or the number of cards the player holds/discards from the first set.

An optional Double Up wager allows the player to increase the value of their primary wager without accepting any additional cards into their hand. Abstract: The invention relates to a modified blackjack game between a dealer and at least one player. After placing initial wagers, three cards are dealt to each player and two cards dealt to the dealer. The game design allows players to either retain their initial three cards for play, or divide their cards into separate hands. Dividing cards into separate hands requires additional wagers. Players may use their initial three cards by standing or hitting to reach a hand that is higher than the dealers without exceeding twenty one, players may divide their three cards in any fashion that will provide them with the best opportunity to obtain a hand under the conventional rules of blackjack, players will have the choice to play to thirty, thirty-one, or thirty two, and players will have the option of surrendering their initial wager.

Abstract: The present invention provides a poker game playing method wherein multiple five-card hands from once previously shuffled 52-card poker deck can be played without increasing probabilities against a casino, while maintaining maximum entertainment value, and with immediate certainty of winning or losing.
