  • Patent number: 5692979
Abstract: A multipurpose game device comprises a stand having a plurality of detachable standards, each standard containg a webbed hoop with a central aperture and a plurality of plastic spider balls with colored streamers. The balls can be tossed into one of the respective targets in the hoops by the designated player or any one of the standards with its hoop can be detached from the stand with the standard being used as a mallet for hitting one of the plastic balls into a hoop positioned on the ground as in golf, or all of the hoops can be stacked together to form a vertical support with a hoop on the elevated stack for playing basketball. Baseball would be played outdoors with four standards forming a diamond. The homeplate standard would be without a hoop and serves to hold the spiderball, which would be hit with a lightweight bat.

  • Patent number: 5570879
Abstract: To entertain fans at sporting events, such as baseball, basketball backboards, palm trees, hockey and soccer goals are provided as targets for fans to participate by tossing objects at the target. Targets are strapped to a person moving through the stands. In one configuration the target is attached to a backpack and raised over the head using a telescoping mechanism attached between the target and the backpack worn by the operator. In another configuration the target is attached to a helmet worn by the person working the crowd. Both the helmet and backpack arrangement use mounting brackets for attachment of the target members. To telescope the target overhead from the backpack, concentric tubes are extended from within each other using a pulley and cable system controlled by the operator.

  • Patent number: 5516115
Abstract: A portable practice target, for propelled balls, includes a light-weight plastic tubing and fittings framework that supports a front and a rear panel in an essentially vertical position. Three edges of the panels are attached together so that the panels fit over the vertical support like a sock or pillow case. The front panel can have a central pocket and the rear panel can have a central opening so that when the panels are positioned over the vertical support, the front panel pocket can be threaded through the rear panel opening. Adjustable strips can be used as a target area and means for adjusting the size of the pocket opening. The framework vertical support can be held in place by angled or adjustable couplings that permit the angle between the horizontal plane and the panels to be adjusted. The panels can be made resilient and elastic to rebound any ball that does not enter the pocket.

  • Patent number: 5472211
Abstract: An outdoor game apparatus has a pair of concrete game surfaces formed on the ground a predetermined distance from each other with each game surface having a plurality of openings therein spaced in a predetermined relationship. Each concrete game surface has a predetermined score mark adjacent each opening therein and each opening has a drainage opening in the bottom thereof to drain water therefrom. Each of a plurality of plastic game discs has a piece of ferric metal formed therein and is sized to fit into each opening in the game surface so that a player standing adjacent one concrete game surface can throw the game disc towards the other game surface for scoring points when the disc goes in one of the openings. The game includes a pair of elongated wands, each having a permanent magnet attached to the end thereof for each player to selectively retrieve a game disc from an opening in the concrete game surface by magnetically adhering to the ferric metal formed in the disc.

  • Patent number: 5393049
Abstract: A basketball practice system comprising a backboard made of a rigid or semi-rigid material and having a generally a planar configuration is disclosed. A frame structure is secured to the backboard and helps to support a guiding net configured and dimensioned to guide a basketball into a narrow port defined by the guiding net. Cross braces are secured between the frame structure and the backboard in order to give rigidity to the frame. Side deflection structure deflects balls which are moving to the left or right, away from the system and guiding them into the guiding net. This deflecting structure may comprise nets. A basketball net is positioned above the narrow port and a bendable tubular guiding member, which comprises a bendable tubular member has a spiral backbone and a skin secured to the spiral backbone, is coupled to the narrow port and configured to receive a ball and guide it toward a player using the inventive basketball practice system is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5382028
Abstract: An apparatus and a method of play for a disc tossing game is disclosed. The apparatus includes two tapered, generally cylindrical containers with a slot in their sides and a disc with dull edges. When the disc tossing game is played in a yard or a park, the containers may have an open top and a closed bottom with the top having a larger diameter than the bottom. When the disc tossing game is played on a beach or indoors, e.g., in an indoor gymnasium, the containers may have an open top and an open bottom where the top has a smaller diameter than the bottom. The players always have an option as to which container is used in any type of playing situation. When the disc tossing game is played, the two containers are placed at a distance from each other and the disc is tossed at each of the containers in turn with each toss being scored and a winner being declared when one of two two-player teams reaches a score of exactly twenty-one.
